I am trying to: Log into my WordPress dashboard

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link

I expected to see: I can easily get into the backend

Instead, I got: Timeout error. 100% CPU usage on server. I have contacted the server provider (Cloudways) and they've noticed there were lots of queries are being generated. And WPML was the main cause. Once I disabled the plugin, I can go to the dashboard again. So I can confirm that WPML is the culprit.

I've been using WPML for many years so would like to continue to use it. Please see if there's any way to optimize the plugin to reduce the CPU usage.

Hi Hsin,

Thank you for contacting WPML support, I’m happy to help you with this issue.

It could be the slowness issue caused by one of the plugins not being compatible with WPML or some theme code. Can you please follow the next steps and let me know how it goes:
Please make a backup before proceeding.
1. Install the Query Monitor plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/).
2. Check the load time and the number of queries in the top bar. Load time has "s" and queries "Q".
3. Disable all WPML plugins and check load time and the number of queries.
4. Disable all other plugins and leave active only WPML plugins, switch to a WordPress default theme.
5. Consider downgrading the PHP version to 8.0 or 8.1, version 8.2 is new and not many plugins/themes are compatible with this.

Please let me know how it goes and share each result with me and read more on the documentation https://wpml.org/tutorials/2019/10/analyze-performance-issues-with-query-monitor/
and some suggestions https://wpml.org/forums/topic/how-can-i-improve-performance-of-a-slow-site/

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks
