I just started translating my products. When I wanted to translate my first product, I noticed that WPML wants to translate way more than just the product. In the screenshot, the text I marked grey is what actually belongs to the product. The text below that is from other pages (like category descriptions). I want to do those later on seperately. Can you please tell me what is going on? I did not make more screenshots because the list goes on very long. At the bottom of the list are the product variants (size, color) which do need translation.

Hi there,

Thank you for contacting WPML support!

When translating a product, WPML needs to associate it with the relevant taxonomies, such as Product Category or Product Tag. Therefore, untranslated taxonomies may initially appear when translating a product.

If you prefer to translate the taxonomies and their descriptions later, simply copy the original language into the translation. This will remove them from the translation editor when working on other products.

To restore the taxonomies to the translation editor, go to WPML → Settings → Only show taxonomy terms that haven't been translated yet and disable this option.

Hope that helps 🙂
