Tell us what you are trying to do?
I've just set up the WPML Plugin (I have installed the WPML Multilingual CMS, and the add-ons WPML String Translation, WPML Media, and WPML SEO), and I'm using the setting "translate everything", and most content is translated, but most of the headings are not, and also not text in accordions and buttons and 'special' elements like that.
We're using WPBakery and the Ohio Theme, which should be compatible with WPML according to their website. I've made sure that there is enough memory, as described in the minimum requirements. I've tried to change the settings in Custom Fields Translation, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I've also tried to scan plugins and themes for strings - but for the themes it seems to get stuck while scanning and never finishes the scanning, so that might be an issue?

Is there any documentation that you are following?
I have been following the guidance for Getting Started, and have looked for similar issues online, and have tried some fixes, but couldn't really find the right thing - it seemed like the solutions were always quite specific for that ticket's case.

Is there a similar example that we can see?
I've attached two screenshots. One from our start page - the translated version in German (default/main is English). As you can see, parts of the page are translated, but some are not.
I've also attached screenshots from our About Us page, where the heading is not translated and has %0 added behind it.
I've now hidden the French and German version, so it's not viewable by the public.

What is the link to your site?

Thank you for your help!

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you to resolve the issue.

This may be because of the Customized WPBakery Page Builder Modules. We have to add WPML language configuration for the Customized Modules of page builders. Then only it will appear for translation. Please refer to the following documentation for more details and let us know your feedback.

https://wpml.org/documentation/support/language-configuration-files/#page-builder-content

https://wpml.org/documentation/support/language-configuration-files/overriding-language-configuration-files/

We can easily find the WPBakery Page Builder Module shortcodes by switching to Classic Mode in the editor screen on the default language pages. Please check this image for more details - hidden link

For your kind information, *Ohio* theme is not included on the WPML official compatibility list for the themes - https://wpml.org/theme/. It does not mean that this theme is not compatible with WPML, but our compatibility team has not tested it yet.

Hi Bigul,

Thank you for your answer and advice.
I have attempted to follow the instructions on how to add the page builder content on the wpml-config.xml file, but it doesn't change anything. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right - I've attached two screenshots of the WPBakery with the shortcodes, and my changes in the wpml-config.xml file. Please advise on what I should do, maybe it's easier to have a brief phone call on Monday?

Regarding compatibility, it is Ohio that claims to be compatible with WPML, hence I believed it should be compatible.

Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for the details & login information. I have updated the language configuration in WPML>>Settings>>Custom XML Configuration like the following.

<wpml-config>
  <shortcodes>
    <shortcode>
      <tag>ohio_icon_box</tag>
      <attributes>
        <attribute>title</attribute>
      </attributes>
    </shortcode>
    <shortcode>
      <tag>ohio_dynamic_text</tag>
      <attributes>
        <attribute>pre_title</attribute>
        <attribute encoding="json">dynamic_title</attribute>
      </attributes>
    </shortcode>
  </shortcodes>
</wpml-config>

Please make a minor edit to the homepage content and update it(to refresh the translation settings). Then make sure you are getting the expected results or not.

Hi Bigul,
Thanks for your help!
Some elements that were not translated before are translated now, thank you, but still not all and there is also a warning message showing on the translated page (see screenshot for instance).

New threads created by Bigul and linked to this one are listed below:

Hello,

Thank you for the feedback. Happy to know you are getting the expected results for most of the elements.

Please share a couple of screenshots and the URL of the pages that have elements missing translation.

Please note that I have opened a new ticket for the PHP Warning issue. Because as per our support policies, we can only handle one issue per ticket. It will help us to serve you better and we can avoid discussing multiple problems in one ticket. Also, it will help other users with similar problems find solutions when searching the forum. I will get back to you soon on the latest ticket. Please wait. Thank you for your understanding.

I have attached another screenshot, but as I said, there are elements that are still not translated on each page and it would take long to capture them all.
Thank you for your help.

Hello,

Thank you for the details. I can see few of the texts are not translated into French yet on these pages. To track this please check which of the Ohio Modules are not showing/listing for transition in WPML Advanced Translation Editor. It will help us a lot in fixing all.

Hi Bigul,
I think that there might be a compatibility issue due to the fact that we are using an older version of the Ohio Theme - is that possible? We are having issues with updating the theme, but I am in contact with the support from Ohio Theme to help us with that. Do you think that updating the theme could help to solve the issue?

Hello,

Thank you for the updates. The latest version of the theme will have improvements and it may help. Also in case of further debugging we need the latest version of the theme. So please upgrade to the latest version of it after a full site backup{mandatory} with the help of theme support. Then make sure the issue is existing or not.

If the problem remains with the latest version of the theme, please check which of the Ohio Modules are not showing/listing for transition in WPML Advanced Translation Editor.
