This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client wants to make employers and candidates not translatable on their job board, while still having a language switcher in the menu to allow users to see the names of fields and categories in different languages.

Solution:
We explained that it is not possible to display a language switcher for non-translatable content without custom code, which is beyond the scope of our support forum. However, we provided resources that could help the client or a developer implement the desired functionality:

We also suggested setting the post type for a fallback mode, where the default language content is displayed when translations are not available. More information on this can be found at Using the default language as a fallback for untranslated content.

If the client requires additional custom work, we recommended contacting WPML Contractors at https://wpml.org/contractors/.

Please note that the solution provided might be irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case. If this is the case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Tell us what you are trying to do?
Hi! I have a job board using two languages. I would like to make employers and candidates not translatable but leave a language switcher in the menu to let users see the names of fields (like "social") and the categories.

How could I do this?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the support.

It's not possible to show a language switcher for non-translatable content. You may need to use custom code, which is out of scope of this forum.

However, WPML offers filters and action hooks that can be used in your WordPress theme or plugin to provide correct multilingual support. Browse following resources for more information:

If you need additional custom work, we recommend you contact WPML Contractors at https://wpml.org/contractors/.

Alternatively you can set your post type for a fallback mode, see https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#using-the-default-language-as-a-fallback-for-untranslated-content for details.

Regards.
