Background of the issue:
I was trying to edit translations using the Classic Translation Editor (CTE) for content that includes multiple text blocks. I followed the instructions in an article to add a patched file, but it did not work. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link

Symptoms:
When I change the translated content of the first block and introduce line breaks, the content is copied to all of the translated content blocks.

Questions:
Why does changing the first block's content affect all blocks?
How can I fix the issue with the patched file not working?

Hi,

Welcome to WPML support. From what I see, the problem must have been fixed on version 4.7.2 of WPML:

https://wpml.org/errata/editing-translations-with-classic-translation-editor-cte-may-break-with-wpml-4-7/

Would you please follow the steps below and see if it fixes the issue?

- Go to your Dashboard > Pages.
- Open the edit screen of the original page. You should see a pencil/circle/gear icon in the sidebar options under the "Languages" section.
- Make a small change, for example, add an extra blank space at the end of a sentence/paragraph.
- Save it.
- You should now see that a circular arrow appears beside the 2nd languages links, this means that an update is required.
- Edit the translation again and save it up to 100% translated.

If the problem persists please copy your website to a staging version that we can do investigation and get back to us with the login information by setting the next reply as private and tell us which page ot check.

Please do not provide a live website info.

Thanks.
