Background of the issue:
I added Dutch as a country with a new domain and language on my site hidden link. I am following the standard translation documentation.
Symptoms:
I can't access the home page in Dutch; it always redirects me back to the standard .com domain.
Questions:
Why does the home page in Dutch redirect me back to the standard .com domain?
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > WPML > Languages > Language URL Format".
- Check the "Different languages in directories" checkbox.
- Click the "Save" button.
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks".
- Click the "Save" button to flush the permalinks cache.
See if the new language shows ok. If so, then the problem is how you set the domain for WPML.
Thanks for your help. The domain works and points at the shop. For example, if you just add whatever letters after the URL, it sends you to a 404 page on the right domain (example: tongkatali-shop.nl/test404
I can also see and click the Dutch language version when I'm here for example: hidden link - it will send me to the Dutch domain, but to a 404, although the product page is set up for that language.
Thank you for the reply, I think you followed everything correctly as I see it is working ok and I see the Dutch version with no issues on both the homepage and the product you gave the link to.
I created a video showing what I see:
hidden link
Thank you.
