Hi, My client found a very odd issue. Whenever he updates the text on the original language version of a page, the connection between the other languages breaks. In other words, the page goes from having two translations to having none. The translated pages still exist within their languages but they're no longer connected to the original. I have to go in and manually re-connect them. I've been able to replicate this multiple times but I can't figure out why it's happening. Any help is appreciated. Thank you! |

Hello There, I understand the issue you're having. It is possible that the language or translation information hasn't been properly propagated to the translation, which could be causing the issue. Please try the following steps: - Go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting. Please let me know how it goes. I will be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter. Best regards, |

Hi Prosenjit, I tried going through those steps on a staging environment. First, it looked like a lot more of the pages got disconnected (even without me editing them). Second, when I tried making a small change on the original page, it still got disconnected from the other languages. What should I try next? |

Hi There, Thank you for the update. Upon reviewing the WPML Debug info, I noticed that the WPML and String Translation plugins are not up to date. Additionally, the site appears to be hosted on WPEngine, which could mean that the caching mechanisms and object caching features of WPEngine are causing issues. Please try the following steps: - Update the WPML plugin to 4.6.11 and the String Translation plugin to 3.2.12 After following these steps, check if the issue persists. If you need further assistance, I'll be happy to help. Best regards, |

Hi Prosenjit, I'm not sure if that helped or not. The issue seems to have evolved. Now, when I update the text in some of the blocks, all of the text in the block either gets wiped out or a critical error shows up. I'm happy to give you access to a staging environment so you can see what's happening. I'm very confused. |

Hi There, Could you please let me know if the initial issue you reported (disconnecting translations) has been resolved after following the steps above? Regarding the issue with Blocks - I'm sorry to hear that another issue has arisen. Could you please check if the issue with blocks occurs when the WPML plugin is disabled? If it does, the problem may be due to another reason, possibly a conflict between plugins. You will need to check by running a plugin conflict test which involves: - Deactivate all plugins and check if the issue is still happening. However, if the issue is resolved after deactivating the WPML plugin, please enable the WordPress debug log and check if any errors are being logged. Here is how you can enable the WordPress debug log. If you notice any errors in the debug log file, please copy them and share them in your next response. I will review them and suggest the next steps. If required, I will take a closer look from your end as well. Looking forward to your response and appreciate your patience and cooperation in this matter. Best regards, |

Hi Prosenjit, I haven't been able to replicate the missing blocks issue in a few days, so I think the plugin updates fixed that. However, the issue with the pages getting disconnected doesn't seem to be fully resolved. As far as I can tell, it's an issue in Safari. The same action I take in Chrome without issue causes a disconnect in Safari. Do you need access so you can test? |

Hi There, For your information, many WPML users use Safari, and we haven't received reports of this translation disconnection issue yet. To determine if this problem is unique to your site or more widespread, please try to replicate the issue in our sandbox. The auto-login URL to our sandbox is provided below. - hidden link WPML and its add-ons are already installed in the sandbox. Please complete the setup to match your main site, and then try to recreate the issue using the Safari browser. You may install any theme or plugin that could help in reproducing the issue if needed. Since the sandbox contains only WPML and its add-ons, reproducing the issue and identifying the root cause in this minimal environment becomes easier. Please let me know if you're able to recreate the issue in the sandbox. I'll take a closer look and try my best to assist you in this matter. Best regards, |

Hi Prosenjit, I tried installing the other WPML add-ons that we're using on the live site (Gravity Forms, ACF, and SEO). I got a connection failure error--please see attached. Even if I can't replicate the issue in this environment, the issue still exists on the live site. Can you help me fix it there? |

Hi There, I can certainly investigate the issue on your site, but since you mentioned that it occurs specifically in the Safari browser, it's important to determine if this issue happens on other sites or just on yours. Therefore, it would be helpful if you could try to replicate the issue in a minimal environment (Sandbox). For your information, you should now be able to install the other WPML addons on the sandbox site. Please let me know the update. If you can't replicate the issue in the sandbox, I'll take a closer look at your site and be happy to assist you further. Best regards, |

Hi Prosenjit, I was able to move all of the plugins I need with a few exceptions: Can I at least migrate WPML settings and pages from my live site? I don't have time to recreate all of that by hand. |

Hi There, The purpose of the sandbox is to investigate issues in a minimal environment. Therefore, it wasn't necessary to install all plugins or migrate anything into the sandbox. You just need to complete the WPML setup and then check if the same issue can be replicated using the Safari browser. This approach will help us determine whether the problem lies within WPML or if a third-party plugin is involved. It is also not necessary to migrate all pages from your site to the sandbox. You can simply create one page and check in the Safari browser if the connection between the default page and the translated page breaks when updated. If the issue is widespread, one page will be sufficient to replicate it. Now, please do the following and let me know the outcome: - Keep the WPML settings on the sandbox the same as on your main site. Let me know the result, please. I'll be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter. Once again, thank you for your patience and kind cooperation in this matter. Best regards, |

Hi Prosenjit, I did the best I could to set up the sandbox the same was as the live site. I may have missed some things, since I'm not a WPML expert. Regardless, I couldn't replicate the issue in Safari. Can you help me try to resolve the issue on the live site? Thanks! |

Hello There, No problem! I can take a look from your end. I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated. You will find the needed fields below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it. Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you. IMPORTANT Looking forward to your response. Best Regards, |

Hi There, Thank you for sharing the access information. Since I don't have access to the Safari browser, I have asked one of my colleagues to check the issue. I will inform you as soon as I receive an update. I appreciate your patience while we are working on this matter. Best regards, |
