  1. Hello,

I am creating the WP site for the customer. He asked me to purchase WPML plugin.
Is it OK, if I buy it or the best option is to ask the customer to purchase it? So he will have rights to use it.
Do you have certificate in ZIP archive, that I will receive after purchase?

The link to appropriate statement in Documentation will be highly appreciated.

    Looking forward to your feedback!

    • If you build websites for clients, it’s OK for you to buy WPML. You can then use it on your own sites and sites that you build for clients. If your client buys WPML, he can use it on his other sites.

  2. Hi there,
What does “Account renewal per year” mean? Does this mean that the license expires after a year? Or does the support/free updates expire after a year?

    Thanks.

    • Hi Richard,
It means that you will not have access to support and updates after a year. You will be still allowed to use the WPML plugin(s) you had installed or downaloaded before.

  3. Our website is using WPML for multi-languages support. It built by service provider. In case we found some issue on image gallery with WPML, can I post a question on your support forum?

    • Hi Kenny,
to post a question in our support forum you need access to your WPML account. If you have it, it’s ok.

  4. Hi WPML,
I am currently developing a website for a client using Pagelines DMS 2 hosted on WP Engine.

    I have two questions:

Can the WPML-plugin handle a setup of language versions in a structure like this:
    http://www.oursite.com, /de, /no, /se and so on.

Is this something the WPML plugin can handle or is this something that our host should set?

Also, I can’t find Pagelines DMS 2 in the theme compatibility chart here on your site.
Do you know of any issues?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    best regards

    Peter, Copenhagen, Denmark

    • Hi Peter,
answering your first question. Yes, WPML will do it for you. You set it in your WPML settings panel.

About Pagelines DMS 2 compatibility. If a plugin/theme is not in our compatibility list we cannot guarantee you will not have any issues. But some of our customers are using Pagelines with WPML.

  5. Hi,
I use wordpress and woocommerce on my website (www.xensualwear.com).
I wanna make it multilanguage and multi currency?
So what should plugin i buy to make it happen?
And there is tutorial to implementation on wordpress after i buy the plugin?
    Please, let me know back.
    Thank You.

  6. Hi – I believe WPML auto-detects language according to the language set in the users browser. Is there another option i.e you can specify you want to do this using their geolocation as the defining factor for the language.

I ask because browsers do not always have the language properly set, as well as different browsers stating the language differently.

    Thanks

  7. Hi again Agnes, I’ve contacted Woothemes to confirm compatibility with your plugin, and was informed that only the WooCommerce portion of the theme “For The Cause” would be compatible, not the theme itself.

This is an issue because I will not be using any of the WooCommerce features on the theme, I just need to translate basic things like the navigation menus and sidebar widgets.

What is the best way I can accomplish this?

    Thanks for your help.

  8. Hi,

I want to use the WPML plugins again. I bought a Multi license in 2012 but never used it after that period. I would like to renew now (renewal $39) but I can’t seem to select that.
I don’t want to buy a new license because I already bought that earlier.

    Thanks

    • Hi Ruben,
you can prolong your subscription at the discount price before it expires.

If you don’t want to buy a new one you can consider purchase a lifetime version. We offer a discount for cases like yours. You should see a link in your account.

  9. Hi,

we are developing WordPress-Sites for many of our clients.
If we would buy the Lifetime-License can we use this license for all our clients Sites or do we have to buy a new license for every different Client or domain?

    Thank You!

    • Yes, you need only one WPML license and you can use it when building all your sites for all your customers even if they are on diffrence domains. But you cannot resell it.

  10. The clunkiness at http://www.bilingualpreschool.org resulted from a desire to allow Spanish-only parents to be exposed to English word-for-word as they explored the website of their children’s school. Alas, the school now wants fewer words, so I suspect that means toggling the entire page between English and Spanish. Could you send me URLs of how some of your customers display that toggling capacity? And does your suite of tools suggest to you another avenue that I should explore that would serve the original side-by-side purpose? Many thanks./sj

  11. Hi,

I’m using woocommerce and woo commerce nl (Dutch translation) and de (German) translation plugin. Does your plugins supports multiple language plugin of woocommerce?

  12. I’m confused.

So if I purchase Multilingual CMS version of your plugin, I STILL have to purchase a separate plan with someone like ICanLocalize just to be able to translate the text on my website?

I thought your plugin does the translating. So in other words, I’d have to pay $79 for your plugin PLUS a bunch of money to ICanLocalize???

You guys don’t seem to clarify this anywhere.

    Please advise.

    • You are right Jeff. WPML won’t translate your texts. It provides you with an interface for posting post/pages and other WordPress elements in different languages. It is you who inserts the translations. Or you can also consider ICanLocalize (paid) service as well.

  13. Hey there!
I’m using a plugin called Live Composer on my wordpress page and would like to know if the wpml plugin is able to detect text in those textarea- modules. Will i be able to change the language in the modules, or does it only work within the wordpress editor? I hope you can understand my problem.

  14. Hi. I have purchased template “Real Homes WordPress Theme” that includes WPML plugin and I have the same problem have many people with this plugin (404 error page). Can you help me? The developers of the template told me to contact you to solve the issue. Thanks!

    • Hi, WPML is not included in any theme. Yet a theme can be compatible with WPML. You should purchase WPML separately. Then you can ask all your technical question in our support forum.

      • You are right, I contacted the site owner and he had purchased. I am his support guy, he can’t contact with the old support, so we can’t find the purchase number or license. Can we find it somewhere in the files of the wordpress or we should rebuy the plugin?

          • Hi. Yes, I know this. The person who purchased the plugin was the old support technician, but with money of the owner of the site. Now, he fired the guy and he don’t give us the login info nor the license code, so my question is, can we retrieve it somehow or we must rebuy the plugin? Answer me to this, because I need to inform the owner. Thanks

  15. Hi!

I bought the plugin, but used a wrong email address, and I cannot login, to download the plugin i was paying for. Can you help me? What information do you require to identify me?
I purchased a couple of minutes ago.
    Thank you!

    Peter

    • Peter we cannot find your email in our system. Since you missspelt it searching leads to nowhere. We cannot find any recent orders by Peter either. Transaction ID would be good, or the first and last name you used.

  16. Hi, I am building a website for a client that will require the site to be in both English & Hausa. Does WPML currently have support for Hausa? I couldn’t find a list of currently supported languages on the WPML site and whether users could “Add a new language” with an unsupported language.

Currently we are developing the site in English and looking for the best way to make the site bi-lingual, but when the site is launched, Hausa will become the primary language. Would it be easy to switch the primary language with WPML?

    Thanks,
    Frank

    • Hi Frank,
you will not see Hausa in the language default list but you can add any language you want in the WPML -> Languages -> Edit language panel.
Yes, you can change the primary language of your site whenever you want using the same WPML -> Languages -> Change default language panel.

  17. Hello,

We’ve developed our own platform that runs on top of WP along with a lot of custom functionality, caching, custom fields, etc. Is it possible to use WPML to just do the language switching, build the URL’s for us, and give us some way of determining the language – but without adding additional fields and such to the admin center? We just want the limited functionality to let users switch languages, have the URL’s change and have some way of knowing in PHP which language they are using.

    Possible?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Philip,
WPML lets you decide whether to deal with translations of additional elements (like Custom Post Types, taxonomies and Custom fields and so). You can switch them on/off in two places:
      1. WPML -> Transaltion options
      2. WPML -> Translation Management > Tab “Multilingual Content Setup” > Section “Custom fields”
to see the second one you will need to install a separate plugin called “WPML Translation Management”. It’s included in the WPML CMS package.

    • Hi Wioleta,
I’m sorry this is not possible. But the good news is that you don’t need your invoice in Polish for accounting purposes. Just don’t forget to put the NIP number into the “Billed to” field (together with your name and address as well).

  18. Hi,

I’m a webdesign agency and want to know if I buy this plugin I can use it for multiple websites/customers with only 1 lifetime purchase?

    Best regards,
    Jochen

  19. We are planning to use WPML in conjunction with the BuddyPress Multilingual plugin but are waiting for the new release of the plugin as the old version was not working. We will have to make a decision very soon about how to make our site multilingual and would like to give your product another try .Could you please send us the beta version so we can test it.

We previously purchased a copy of WPML but had to return it. We are planning to make a new purchase if we can get the BuddyPress plugin to work.

Please send BuddyPress Multilingual plugin (beta) to (email edited)
    Thank you very much.

  20. Hi. I am trying to develop a site with only 2 languages at the moment. The languages are both English so American and British. I plan to share much of the content/pages but may have some county specific information (like healthcare standards and regulations) on some pages. Im really confused about how to go about this and worried about what may be construed as duplicate content. First, will this plugin work for dialects? I only see just one English in the demo. Also, if this plugin were to work for me, can you suggest a method to accomplish the organization of content? Thanks.

      • Thanks Agnes, I checked out the threads. Basically I learned this:

I notes the next thread which provided a custom script to redirect users based on geolocation which I would try.

My other question would be how I would set up that all of UK (England, Ireland, etc) get british translation and the rest of the world would get American translations until we migrate to additional native languages. Can this be done with either browser detection or geolocation?

        • soory in my last comment I meant for only
“I notes the next thread which provided a custom script to redirect users based on geolocation which I would try.” to be in the cited box. My other question is not part of that quote.

        • Hi again. You should set American English (en-us) as the deafulat language. In WPML you will be asked to pick up one language as the default one. Choose American. Then add all other English laguages:
en-ie, en-gb etc. Then in WPML please goto WPML->Browser language select and choose “Redirect visitors based on browser language only if translations exist”.
You can also set en-us, en-ie, en-gb in your browser.
Slides 6 and 8 might be helpful.

  21. Hi, i manage 2 wordpress sites under the same url (e.g. mysite.org/site1 and mysite.org/site2) being this the case i was wondering if i only have to purchase the plugin for one site or if they are under the same domain i only have to buy it once to use it in both of them? I also use IWP to manage the site, so will this represent a problem with the plugin?

    • Hi Andres,
you need only one WPML license for all your sites. Doesn’t matter if they are on different domains or within the same one. So, you purchasing only one license is enough for all the sites you are building for you or for your customers.

IWP. You mean infinitewp plugin, right? It’s not in our plugin compatibility list, so I cannot assure you it will work with WPML. But I saw some WPML customers were using it.
