No, sorry, WPML doesn’t translate your content. It allows you to run a WordPress site with several languages, so that you can translate the content. You can also send translation jobs off-site.
Hi, If I but Multilingual CMS package, could I upgrade to Multilingual CMS lifetime later? If I can do it, how much should I pay for the upgrade. Thank You
Yes, you can buy a yearly account now and upgrade to the Lifetime account later. When you do that, you only need to pay the difference. Updates will be available from within your account.
I am translating various WordPress sites for different clients. If I buy a lifetime subscription, can I install WPML on each site that I translate? Or do I need to pay again for a separate subscription for each installation?
You can install WPML on all your sites and sites that you create for your clients. This is true for any WPML package that you buy. The yearly accounts require renewal every year. The Lifetime account gives you upgrades and support forever, without having to renew.
Please note that a valid account is needed to download updates and get our support.
I’ve been working before with WPML in some websites, but now I have a new project, quite complicated, and I would like to make some questions before to buy the plugin for this case.
I would have a wp website in three languages, mixing the plugin woocommerce (it won’t be a full store, but it will have virtual products to buy) and the theme spotfinder, that is a kind of marketplace/directory listing theme (adapted to wpml).
The thing is that I want the general parts of the website in the three languages (menu, general pages, blog posts, woocommerce checkout process, etc…).
BUT i don’t want to translate the “products” of woocommerce (they will have a general english name that don’t has to be translated) and the “posts” of the theme (called “spots”) because both of them (products and posts) would be created directly by usuers (there is a public submission part) and I don’t want them to create it for each language, they don’t need to be translated, same for all languages. Also, some taxonomies of the theme posts, such categories, tags or own special fields will need to be translated.
Is this possible ?
I’ve tried the plugin in other ocasions and sometimes in the Translation options section I cannot deactivate the checkboxs for “products”, “posts” or things like that.
One last question. How it works internally the app ? it creates a new post with a different post_id for each language ? or is a single post in the database and stores the translation in a different table in the database ? (I’m thinking that if the first part is impossible, to modify the code to “auto-create” the translations once the products/posts are added.
I understood how it works, but as long as it’s a special project that requires many developments and adaptations, the main idea will be:
Can I use the plugin to translate the general pages and posts (blog) but nothing else? No needed of translation of products, no needed of translation of theme posts, but using the checkout, cart, etc… of woocommerce in the different languages ? (Having a general product called “General” that is in English, in a checkout process in Chinese or Spanish, for example).
Also, the theme I wanna use has a public submissions system that the designers says cannot be translated. Is there a way, through developing, that I can make some own developed content in WP, translatable ?
The biggest question is “Can a multilingual website, with multilingual cart and checkout process in woocommerce, multilingual pages and blog posts, use single language woocomerce products and single language posts from the theme functionality?”
The posts from the theme (spots in a directory) and the products of woocommerce, won’t be created at once by myself, instead will be created from a public submission system by users, in a single language that don’t has to be translated, so I cannot go one by one each time duplicating the content. In addition, for accounting reasons it would be really useful if I don’t have three codes of article for each product, depending of the language (I suppose the number of post will change in each language). So, is this possible ?
to whom it may concern, we are a large non-profit and would like to use your plugin for our new site (above and not yet public). we are on a deadline to launch by end of next week. how can we get a free copy of your most powerful version? we will give you credit on site FOR SURE!
My account has expired but I didnt get any notification as usual. Now I can’t find the option to buy the $39 license. The only available option is to buy again for $79!
We’re looking at using your plugin, along with WordPress SEO from Yoast, for our WordPress Multisite. Although we can produce sitemaps for each specific sub-directory (/en and /de in this instance), is it possible to make a multilingual sitemap following the rel=”alternate” href lang markup?
I can see that the plugin can easily handle multiple languages, but how does the plugin handle the same language targeting multiple different locations?
By default the plugin ships with one language configured for english (en). But you can add your own languages and variations to organize your posts the way you need.
Thanks for the reply. So just to clarify, this would essentially be adding a new custom language of “en-fr” for example. Which would then all link up correctly with the HREFLANG guidelines on Google?
With not having used the plugin before I’m trying to visualise this to make sure it will do exactly what is needed.
I teach beginners to install, use, maintenance and customize WordPress websites in classroom workshops.
Topics include multilingual websites and translations too.
To do this, I would like to request a license that allow to use wpml plugin as well.
Is there a way to do so?
I’m sorry but we don’t provide support by telephone. You can make your purchase and ask any questions in our support forum, you then have 30 days to ask for a refund if our product doesn’t fulfil your needs.
Hi,
If I buy WPML “Multilingual Blog” package, does it support language “Vietnamese”?
I went through the forum and it mentioned that this language was only appeared in “Multilingual CMS”.
Thank you,
JP
My website is all in Polish, except one plugin Woocommerce Subscriptions. It must be translated with WPML plugin as stated in the plugins documentation.
I have two questions:
1. Which version of WPML should i buy to be able to translate it?
2. I don’t want to have website in two languages, I just want to have it fully translated to one language. Is that possible? How can I do this using WPML?
If you dont need multiple languages I recommend that you create a polish po file for the plugin. You can send this file to icanlocalize.com for translation or use a plugin like “Codestyle Localization”.
Hi David.
Thanks for advise. Unfortunately this plugin Woocommerce Subscriptions cannot be translated by .po files.
As quoted from this plugin faq: Translation does not work with the Codestyling Localization plugin but will work with WPML.
Please check yourself on: http://docs.woothemes.com/document/subscriptions/faq/
Chapter 32
Rest is translated by Codestyling Localization but this particular plugin must be translated by WPML.
I am just not sure which one I need and how can I do this since I don’t want to have two languages.
Hi, I purchased the the WPML Multilingual CMS a couple of years ago but my account has since expired. I need to translate the words within a search box. I understand this can be done with the String Translation plugin? Do I need to buy a new WPML Multilingual CMS account to download this? Is it $79? Kindly advise.
I’m trying to decide whether to migrate this Joomfish site to WPML, an important consideration is how similar the URL structure can be to what it is now. This FAQ page is a start, but what will happen when a visitor asks for just the domain? Can WPML serve up the specified static page in the browser’s preferred language without changing the virtual URL to something like oicjapan.org/en (or even worse, oicjapan.org/en/homepage-slug)? Naturally, once they start exploring other pages, the language directory would be in the URL, but I hope the home reference can be clean. (So that if they share the link, others with different language preferences will get it in their own language.) Possible? Yes, we can use Apache’s mod_rewrite – it’s currently used for the Joomla URLs now.
WPML has an automatic javascript redirection feature based on the browser language. But ultimately the user will be redirected to the language directory (/en/). I understand that its important that one URL always gives the same content (for SEO purposes).
We want to buy WPML but we don’t yet have our WP hosting environment set up. I have 2 questions from this:
1) Can I buy the plugin and keep it on a drive till I need to install it? (in a corporate like ours this is useful). Or does one need to install it instantly?
2) Once we develop the site, we will have a production version and a UAT version (both hosted by us – one public and the other hidden to restricted IPs – i.e. some of our offices). Does the WPML licence cover both the production and the UAT sites or do you require us to buy 2 x licences?
1) You can download it and keep it if you need to. Each plugin comes as a zipped file.
2) You can install the plugin on all your sites. The subscription covers updates and support.
Hello! We are looking for a plugin to admin multilanguage sites with WordPress.
Usually we work duplicating content in a network install.
Is possible try your plugin (we will use in our dev server, not in the public) before buy it?
There is no way to have a demo version to understand if it work as we expect on our standard wordpress developping?
Something that we can download, install and check?
Hello I’ve also used WPML (2.9.2) with my company and I’m thinking of buying it for myself.
In 2.9.2 it doesn’t really worked to have different domains in a multisite, although I
– used the sunrise.php of the WPML folder
– In my webserver settings I had set the domains to the right ftp folder
– In the wpml settings I chose “different domain per server” and typed in the domains.
The problem was that every site of a subpage referred back to the main page.
Do you know if this problem is solved in later versions?
All known problems are reported to the developers and fixed in next release. There have been many updates since 2.9.2, you need to update WPML plugins and the sunrise.php file and try again. Report any problems found here and we will take care: http://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
Is it possible to have slightly different content for two different countries. Say I have two offers, One For the UK and One for Spain. This would just be static information on 1 page. Would this be possible? Thank you
WPML changes the content that is displayed based on the selected language (not country) and you choose to see one language or another using a language selector. The content in each language has a different URL and although there is optional automatic redirection based on the browser language I don’t think this is what you want.
I submitted your nonprofit form and have not heard back. I expect the reason is that you are still reviewing it although the present website is in 16 languages and we would like to start working with WPML on the new one. My concern is that we will be accepted and then your email saying we have been will not get through my junk mail filtering system. Could you thus provide me with the address the mail would be coming from? Thank you. Rick
We don’t have this option yet. Right now, multi-currency is highly coupled with multiple languages. At some point in the future, we are planning to separate and offer multi-currency separately, but it’s not available now.

THANK YOU!
From what you are describing, WPML would work great for you.
You will need to use our glue plugin WooCommere Multilingual:
http://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/
To display the same products and sports in all languages, use WPML’s Content Duplication features:
http://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-using-content-duplication/
This will cause all products and sports to appear the same in all languages, which preserving the navigation and ‘other content’ translated.
I’m not sure what other plugin you’ve used, but the setup that you’re describing is pretty standard for multilingual WooCommerce sites with WPML.
Translations are saved in separate posts. This way, they get their own fields and content and you can easily translate everything.
Is this what you are looking for?

Thanks again for your help.
Btw, more info about the public submissions part that says its not translatable: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTUNWQLQcJY
Sorry for such a mess of information but I’m at the same time doing research about this.
I’ve seen the GetText calls http://blog-en.icanlocalize.com/installing-wordpress-for-multiple-language-blogs/how-to-localize-wordpress-themes-and-plugins-with-gettext/ and I’ve checked I can translate all the pages and things I want to develop by myself.
The biggest question is “Can a multilingual website, with multilingual cart and checkout process in woocommerce, multilingual pages and blog posts, use single language woocomerce products and single language posts from the theme functionality?”

Hi,
Quick question re. support for HREFLANG.
Client is looking to target English speaking customers in multiple countries around the world.
It isn’t clear looking at the documentation so far if this is possible. I.e this would look like;
http://www.website.com/en-gb/
http://www.website.com/en-fr/
http://www.website.com/en-de/
etc.
I can see that the plugin can easily handle multiple languages, but how does the plugin handle the same language targeting multiple different locations?
