Hello, To share the translation memory between sites, you will need to connect both sites. Best regards |

Hi Andreas, I am a little confused. I wasn't asking about sharing credits between sites. I was asking why translation credits were being used when an already translated page was sent to be re-translated. To be clear, the content on the pages did not change in between translations and the phrasing was identical, yet additional translation credits were used when the page was retranslated. A total of 18,990 translation credits (2 per translated word) should have been used to translate the content on the URLs listed in the screengrab of the translation management page. However, a total of 33,758 credits appear to have been used - I included the total number of credits available in the screengrab at the point of submitting this support ticket. I calculate that we have lost 14,768 translation credits. Please can these be added back to blackfords.com account? And can you tell us why credits were used when the translations had already been made and should have been in the site's translation memory? Many thanks |

As explained in the provided documentation, connecting sites will make them share credits, translation memory and glossary. On our system each site has its organization and inside this organization are credits, translation memory, and glossary saved. See section: "Some benefits of connecting your sites:" Only connecting one organization with another one can make them share their translation memory. I will consult my supervisor about the request to add credits to your account. |

Hello, I would like to inform you that we made an exception and credited 14,768 credits to your account. Take kindly note, that usually if you migrate a site or set up a staging site, you should see a WPML migration banner on the WordPress Dashboard. Inside the banner, you can select if the new site is a copy of the old site, or in case the old site does not exist anymore you can move the site. This banner will then send the information about the site to our system. Did you see such a banner? If not, may I ask you how you set up the new site? Did you maybe use a completely new WordPress install and simply import the content from the old site? Best regards |

Hi Thanks very much for refunding the credits. To confirm again, there was no new site. We did not migrate anything, so there was no need to connect another site to this site. I was just retranslating pages that had already been translated to trigger fixes made to the settings/template. I was asking: why were translation credits being used when a page was re-translated if that page had already been translated by the automatic translator and no edits had been made? My understanding was that if an edit was made to an English language version of a page and that page had previously been translated by the automatic translator, when the page was re-translated only the content that had been changed would use up any translation credits. Isn't that how it should work? Many thanks! |

If you make edits on the original content, then the affected segments will get translated again. Could this be the reason? |

Thank you. We're just looking into that and will reply properly. |

Hi Andreas, To reconfirm, we did not make any edits to the original content. This is why I was surprised that translation credits were being used and I escalated the issue to WPML support. I am pleased that you reimbursed us for the credits that were used up in this way, but I am concerned that if we re-translate a page in the future, for the purpose of updating one sentence or one sub-heading, we will be charged for retranslating the whole page. It seems like there is no further advice you can give and we should just raise the issue when it happens again. Thanks for the reimbursement. |
