This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to translate products on your site using WPML and find the new product translation method, which requires assigning translators, unsuitable for your needs. You prefer a method where every admin can translate content directly without needing to be assigned as a translator.
Solution:
If you're experiencing this issue, we recommend the following steps:
1. Ensure that the classic translation method is selected in WPML. This can be done by navigating to WPML -> Translation Management and checking the settings.
2. If you want administrators on your site to translate products directly, they should go to WPML -> Translation Management, select the products, and assign them to themselves.
3. Alternatively, you can translate products by editing a product in the original language and then clicking on the translation icon that appears in the right column under the Languages block.

Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate products on my site hidden link using WPML. In the newest version, the product translation method has changed. Previously, I could translate products from a list, similar to how pages and blog articles are translated. Now, I have to assign translators, which is not suitable for my use case. I want every admin of the site/shop to be able to translate all content without needing to be a translator or submit translations.

Symptoms:
The new product translation method in WPML is not intuitive and does not fit my use case.

Questions:
Is there a way to bring back the old product translation method?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us

1.- Please share the site debug information as described in this guide: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/

2.- If you desire that the administrators on your site can translate the products on their own, then they need to go to WPML -> Translation Management -> Select the products and assign them to themself.

Another method to translate the products is by editing a product in the original language and then clicking on the translation icon that appears in the right column -> Languages block.

Regards,
Carlos

The problem was resolved: I had a error notification saying the advanced translation editor was operational but not active. I was able to select the classic translation method and now I can translate the products as before, from the products list
