Background of the issue:
I have a page (original in English) that is translated into a number of languages on my site hidden link. I want any changes that happen to the original page to be transferred to the translated pages, and the content to be translated. If not translated, I want to be notified in the WPML plugin that they need to be reviewed for translation.

Symptoms:
No specific issue or error message mentioned.

Questions:
How can I ensure that changes to the original page are automatically transferred to the translated pages?
Is there a way to get notified in WPML when translated pages need to be reviewed for translation?

I followed the instructions from yesterday and deleted the cache and updated WMPL to the latest version. What now?

Thanks for sharing your results.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.

You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.

IMPORTANT

- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

There is something I want to ask before that.
I was reading this https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#how-to-convert-a-translation-into-a-duplicate

From what i could understand when a translation is created a page is duplicated. Then the Duplicate can inherit changes made in the original. But if something on th Duplicate is translated it becomes a Translation. If new changes are made to the original will they be transferred to the Translation in that case?

What I want to do it is when I make a change on a page(original, not a translated one) on the website, the changes to be transferred to the translated pages as well (content and general change likes building block placement) and for the new content to be translated.

I'm asking this as the website is big, creating a staging would be slow and I just want to make sure that what I'm looking for is possible before getting into such a hassle.

Also, could the setting in the screenshot have anything to do with the case?

Hey there,

Answering your question: when a page is a duplicate, every time you update the original, the translation will be updated to be an exact (untranslated) copy of the original.

If you make it as a translation, it should be translated when you send it to translation. It seems this is not the issue, as your page is staying unchanged after being sent to translation.

Again, I'd like to get access to your website. I won't make any changes to your website, but I'll download a copy, so I can test solutions without compromising the functioning of your live website. I've enabled the private fields once more, so you can share the credentials safely.

Hey there,

I checked your website, ran some default debugging steps and the translations now have the same layout as the original, as expected.

Can you please confirm if everything is working as expected?

Hey,

I checked, I updated and nothing. The original version is one thing, while the translated is another. I even updated the translation hoping that the update might push the new style that was made on the original onto the translated, but alas it only cost me credits for translation without anything else happening.

Picture Untitled 4 is the original page (ENG where changed were made), Untitled 5 is the translation where i want the changed to be applied. As you can see changes were not transferred to the translated page.

Hi there,

Lucas is away today so I am stepping in to keep the ticket moving towards a solution.

Did you revert the changes? When I visit the page in ENG I only see the old layout.

Using the Playgrounds product let's further test this:

1. Share with me how you made those styling changes, I suppose you edited some settings in the ACF fields within the product correct?

2. Update the ACF plugin along with ACFML as it's using an older version, which can cause issues because WPML is updated to the latest version.

Also, update any outdated WPML plugins as well.

Once that is done I would like to attempt to reproduce this behavior. I suspect that some settings in the ACF settings are possibly not configured correctly.

Hey Bobby,

1. Changes were made just by changing the used ACF blocks in WP. Nothing more.

2. All has been updated as requested.

No changes have been reverted. I just have a copy of the page so that I have a page which is staying on my website while I edit the original one.
You can find the pages if you search for Playgrounds in WP. One is Playground, the other is Playgrounds (original ......).
The point is to have Playgrounds (original ......) be able to transfer the changes made in ENG to the rest of the languages. You'll see that there are around 10 translated languages.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your results.

Nonetheless, I'm still seeing the pages as they should, apparently. Please check here, in this video:
hidden link

That indicates that the issue is being caused by your browser or by another 3rd party plugin.

Upon changing languages, I was seeing the pages with the correct, up-to-date layout and information. Please let me know if I'm missing something.

If you have different results on your side, it's likely that there's some misconfiguration coming from a caching plugin, or from your browser. If that's the case, please make a full website backup, disable all plugins, but WPML and related ones and check your website on another browser. You can also test to check if updates on translations are shown instantly.

Let me know.

Hey Lucas,

I think you're not looking at the correct link. Like I said when I was replying to Bobby, you can see the screenshots of a page that you can see on in WP called Playgrounds (original "something something")
Please watch this video as I think it will help you better understand and see what I've been talking about - hidden link?

Here is one more video about an issue that I noticed while trying to find a temporary workaround - hidden link?
