[Resolved] PDF translated through "Media Translation" is not updated
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client's bilingual website (German and English) displays only the German PDFs on both language versions of a page, despite using the WPML Media Translation tool to add English PDFs. Solution: If you're experiencing this issue, it's likely because the PDF links on your page were created with Elementor. In this case, simply replacing the file in WPML -> Media Translation might not suffice. We recommend translating the PDF links directly within the page using WPML's Advanced Translation Editor. For detailed guidance on how to translate links using this tool, please visit Translating Links with Advanced Translation Editor.
If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to updates or differences in your setup, we encourage you to open a new support ticket. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
My website is German and English. On one page, I'm providing PDFs that can be downloaded and of course the PDFs are different for the German and English languages. After creating the German page I translated it into English. Then I opened the Media Translation tool and added the English PDFs for the corresponding German documents.
Symptoms:
Even after clearing the cache and opening the pages in a different browser, both languages only show the German documents.
Questions:
Why are both languages only showing the German documents even after using the Media Translation tool?
How can I ensure that the English PDFs are displayed correctly on the English pages?
Hi Long, thanks for your suggestion. I just deactivated the SVG plugin, the again uploaded the media file and did a scan for URL replacement but unfortunately this didn't solve the issue.
Your site slightly lacks updates for WPML CMS Multilingual (our core plugin) and Strings Translation. We have newer versions. If you don't see it in the plugins list, please go to hidden link and click the Check for updates button. Then please check if the problem persists.
If it persists, please give me access to your site and explain to me where and how to see the problem with the PDF file.
If you need further help with this, please share the access details to your site with me.

Also, if the page and the PDF button were created with Elementor, replacing the file in WPML -> Media translation might not work. You need to translate the PDF links while translating the page with WPML's Advanced Translation Editor. You can read about it here.
Awesome, thank you, Itamar! That was it! I had to search for the link in the Advanced Translation Editor and could replace it there. Your help is much appreciated!
