I created a multilingual site with wpml. I was creating a site in English and translating it into Greek. I then set Greek as the default language. For some reason, the links in the privacy policy and general terms footer, when I'm on the English version of the site, switch to the Greek version, that is, to the Greek links. Can you help me how to solve this.
Best Regards

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the support.

Apparently it looks like you need to update the translation of the footer and fix the links accordingly. I am not sure which theme you are using and how you are editing the footer.

Please provide some details on this.

May I also ask for the debug information of your website for an overview of your setup? See https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/ for more information.

I've enabled the debug information section for your next reply.

Additionally you can also take a look at https://wpml.org/faq/checklist-before-opening-a-ticket-in-wpml-support/ and cross-check for a few initial fixes.

See https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/ for details on privacy and security.

Regards.

Where can I find the translation of the footer and its links? I translated the pages and the translation is ok, but when the translation is marked in English and I click on the privacy policy, it switches to the good page but in Greek. On that Greek page I can switch to English and everything is ok then. But I need it to switch from the Greek language page to the same one, which is fine now, but from the English language page, it switches back to Greek. I should note that I changed the default language from English to Greek and it was the other way around.
And all this happens to me only in the footer....

Hi,

Thank you for the debug information and the details. Now I have some clear picture.

The problem about switching between English and Greek, it may happen when you changed the default language. Generally, you may need to edit the translations and update any links available within the content.

However, there are also some possible workarounds, please consider followings:

IMPORTANT: Take full backup of your website and database beforehand. It is highly advised to try the following on a staging/dev site first, so your live website isn't compromised.

P.S.: You can go through these one by one and keep checking for the issue. It is not mandatory to apply all of these but try one after the other if it doesn't fix the issue.

1) Translate Link Targets: See this thread for the relevant solution https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translate-link-targets-not-working-still-link-to-en/#post-13393281 and check if this works for you?

2) Check this guide https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-link-already-translated-pages/.

3) Troubleshooting options: See this guide https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-troubleshooting-options/ and apply the commands one by one mentioned in the table.

4) For Strings in String Translation (Optional): In case if some of your strings are not being presented correctly on the frontend, perhaps due to language change they need https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/how-to-change-the-source-language-of-strings/.

Besides these, check the followings for information about particular to your theme:

- https://wpml.org/errata/flatsome-ux-builder-contents-are-not-showing-for-translation-in-ate-or-cte/

Please let me know if this helps resolve the issue. Or I'll try my best to further assist you on the matter.

Regards.
