Hello, we'd like to grant people access to edit translations on our site, and to see the results of their work, without being able to see other Draft content on the site.
How might we accomplish this?
For example, Author 1 creates content, and sends it to Translator 1 for translation.
Translator 1 adds translations within the WPML ATE, and they mark each translation as Complete when they are done.
The translator wants to see how their work looks on the site, in case they need to make further edits or report any problems such as missing translations.
However, new translations are set to Draft status because someone needs to perform a final review before the changes go live, and as a result, Translator 1 cannot see the new translations as they would appear on the site.
How can we enable the Translator to view the resulting translated pages, without giving them access to other content that is not yet public?
Is there any documentation that you are following?

If you set the option "Document status" to "Draft" in WPML > Settings > Translated documents options, the translator will not be able to view the post in the Draft status. The translator can view the translation in the editor again by clicking on the Edit button in the Translation queue.
You can try to use the plugin User Role Editor to enable some capabilities for a user role https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/
Or consider changing the option "Document status" to "Same as the original document" to publish the translation.
Hi Long, thank you, that's what I feared. This WPML behavior is causing operational problems, and here's why:

Why is that? Is there no way that a Translator can be given access to preview their work as it will appear on the site?
Without a way for translators to preview their work on the site, mistakes happen because translators can't double-check their work as it will appear on the site.
As a result, the Translation Manager has to send work back to translators sometimes, resulting in extra steps and multi-day delays that could be avoided. So instead of translating a page and being done within a day, it can take a week (or longer!) to get translations live sometimes.
Exactly which capabilities are you suggesting in this case, to enable translators to preview documents that they've worked on?

If we change this, then we lose the ability to check that nothing is wrong before translations go live. We've had issues where translations were missing or incorrect, and if these mistakes went public, it would make us look unprofessional, visitors would be more likely to bounce without taking action, and it could impact our marketing goals.
If there's some other way to preview work as it'll appear on the site before the changes go live, please let me know! We're open to alternative solutions with WPML.
It is the standard user roles and capabilities of WordPress to not allow a user role to preview a draft post and it's not the WPML issue.
If the translator has the user role Subscriber (for example), you can use the plugin User Role Editor to add the capability edit_others_posts to that role to allow them to view the Draft post.
Hi Long, thank you for your reply. I'm a bit confused when you say that this is a WordPress limitation rather than a WPML limitation because the "adding reviewers" documentation, linked above, indicates that reviewers should be able to preview pages without needing the ability to edit the original content.
If it matters, we're preparing our main website for automatic translation and we're sending pages for review in small batches at first to make sure that the process will work well and that all fields will get translated.
There is a little difference here, the translator can review the content which is translated by automatic translation, but cannot review the content which is translated on their own.

I see. If we switch to this new system of automatic translations and reviewer, is there a way to test that our ACF translation settings are correct, and then correct settings as needed before the reviewer gets the content to review?
Can you please let me know what "ACF translation settings" in your case is? If they are custom fields created by ACF, I think you can create some new posts to test their translations on your own. Some are needed to copy or translated ...
