I've asked the host if I could create a sub-domain of a parked domain and the answer is NO.

So, like I said earlier, only using a different directory work. Not sure why you proclaim otherwise.

Hello,

then that is a limitation of hosting not on WPML.

I still claim if you create another subdomain you can use it on your staging website and use the language par domain option.

For example domain: hidden link or french.home-alarm.ca or any subdomain you wish or a domain your own if point to your staging website and set up language per domain as per docs, will work fine.

Otherwise, you can use language per directory.

Hope that makes it clear.

Kind regards,
Drazen

Without a concrete sample with no proof, I'm still skeptical.

> french.home-alarm.ca <

It doesn't look like a French domain to me. It looks more like an English domain with French content. I need something with the alarme-maison.ca domain involved.

I just tried the /en/ and /fr/ format, and it is NOT working at all either. It used to work on my old WPBakery website. See the attachments.

Oops, I forgot to ask. Is everybody trying to achieve what I want going through the same hardship??

I'm hosted on SiteGround. What hosts can provide better results?

Hello,

if the translated page is not working, we would need to check why, so I have opened a new ticket for that and lets continue there on that topic:

>It doesn't look like a French domain to me. It looks more like an English domain with French content. I need something with the alarme-maison.ca domain involved.

Well, that is what I am trying to explain, you can use any domain you wish or a setup. If you wish you can create a new subdomain for that french URL and use that one, it is up to you. For example staging14.alarme-maison.ca

>Oops, I forgot to ask. Is everybody trying to achieve what I want going through the same hardship??

It works just fine for the rest of the users, and I think it can work the same for you, you just need to create a new subdomain you wish to use for 2nd language on your staging site.

So no matter of website, staging or production, you have the main domain that you are using and another parked domain/subdomain for 2nd language. You add that to the WPML language per domain settings and it should work fine.

Kind regards,
Drazen

Sorry, I need to redo the translations for the front page.

If I use one that has been redone:

hidden link

If I click French at the language switcher, I get (correctly):

hidden link

Then, if I click English at the language switcher, I get (no /en/):

hidden link

Hello,

I already explained this in another split-related ticket.

Please check and let me know if any doubts on that topic there.

Hmmm, have I not told you that creating a sub-domain for a parked domain is NOT possible according to my hosting company (SiteGround)?

Hello,

then you can not use that domain, you can try using another different domain or continue with language per directory for your staging site.

I am afraid that is the best I can do to help you in this case.

Drazen
