Hello WPML,

I hope you're doing well. We're trying to translate the footer, build with the free Astra theme. It contains 4 different widgets. We're not sure if we see the right strings (see attachment).

We followed already these steps: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/#strings-arent-selected-for-translation

But unfortunately, none of the steps do work.

Please, could you tell us what we could do in order to translate the footer of this website?

Thanks for your help!

Sincerely,

JO, JD's web designer for Thrive Sustainably

Hi Oomen,
Good evening. You're trying to translate widgets from the Astra theme, but you might miss our documentation about widget translation. You could follow the following link to translate your widgets using the string translation option or create widgets in each language. https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-widgets/

I hope that helps. Let me know how that goes!

Thank you

Hi Faisal,

Thank you very much for your help and the documentation. I rad the manual carefully.

Unfortunately, I can not solve this problem by myself. I'm confronted with these issues:

1. Via string translation: I can add a translation, but the original language in the string and the new added translation are invisible.
2. Via creating widgets in each language: I don't see the language options at the widgets.

Please, what can we do to make translation visible? Or is this a limitation from the free Astra theme?

Thanks!

Hi JO,
I've tested the "Creating Widgets in Each Language" option on my local server and can confirm that it is working perfectly. To make it easier for you, I've included a screen recording of the process here: hidden link.

I'd suggest giving it another try following the video, and let me know how it goes.

I hope this helps!

Thank you
Faisal

Hi Faisal,

Thank you very much for your assistance and the testing procedure.

Just one question: you're using Astra Pro, right? Because you're widget area looks different than ours. We're using the free Astra theme and considering to upgrade to Astra Pro. Does Astra Pro provides more translation possibilities than the free Astra theme?

Sincerely,

Hi JO,
Good morning! I'm using the latest version of the Astra theme, which is free. I noticed that you're using the Astra Child theme, so make sure that the parent Astra theme is up to date. Also, temporarily switch to the parent Astra theme to check whether the child theme causes the issue.

Astra Pro has more features, but I'm unsure if they offer more translation options. You may want to reach out to their support team for more information.

If you need any other assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'd be more than happy to help you out.

Thank you!
