This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is experiencing incorrect image text translations within the WPML editor.
Solution:
We identified a possible cause related to media files with similar filenames. For more details, see the errata page: Media Translation Issue with Images Having Similar Filenames.
We applied a workaround by navigating to WPML > Settings > Media Translation > How to handle media library texts and disabling the option 'Translate media library texts with posts'. We then initiated a re-sync of the media library by clicking the 'Start' button.
We recommend testing this solution on your staging site to confirm if the issue is resolved.
If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, please check the related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verify the version of the permanent fix, and ensure you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, we encourage you to open a new support ticket at WPML Support Forum for further assistance.

you are currently looking at the WRONG page. Try /lanaudiere-wireless-home-security/ |

And look at the bottom of the page within the ATE. At the top portion of the last page, you will see the French texts, that duplicate the bottom translated texts. |

I am currently not logged into your website. I was on "Lanaudiere Wireless Home Security" - you can see this on my screenshot. Take note, that Safari is not recommended as you might run into unexpected issues - I suggest you try to use Chrome or Edge. |

I hate non-Apple products. Anyhow, I just checked on Firefox, and the issue is right there too. Why can't you see it? Or, are you pulling my legs here?? |

No, surely I am not pulling your leg. If I would spot the issue, then I would investigate further, but I can sadly not see it. If you revise this screenshot, you can see that I was on the suggested page in the top left corner: You can further see that I search for "Maison" and there are only two results in the right section, the one with the French translation. The only difference I can see is that your user account seems to use the old UI of the Advanced Translation Editor. Did you already try to edit the original content and save it again, and then open the translation editor? Maybe you could provide a video that displays the issue? |

Does that mean I'm on my own? What if I give you remote access to my computer? And why are you searching for "Maison"??? If you want to search for something, search for "multiple" instead. |

The string with "Alarme maison sans..." was your example from your screenshot here: If you need further assistance please provide exact examples: - Title of the page |

"Alarme maison" is a translation. "multiple" should appear in both languages. 1. Lanaudiere Wireless Home Security 2. hidden link 3. Job ID? No clue. 4. Wireless Home Alarm Multiple Structures (Alarme maison sans fil pour structures multiples) |

I edited the following page in Elementor on the staging and saved it again: Title: Lanaudiere Wireless Home Security If I now open the translation editor, I see the following French strings in the English content: - Alarme maison sans fil pour structures multiples (Title) - Pas besoin d’acheter des systèmes d’alarme maison séparés pour de multiples contorsions. (Description) - Sécurité d'alarme sans fil résidentielle avec plusieurs partitions sur le même système à votre maison de Lanaudière ou Laurentides (Alt text) These strings come from an image in the media library, which I have now broken the connection to the content in the media library in both languages. However, the strings are still displayed in the editor and the reason is unclear to me. I was unable to confirm this problem on the other staging. Is this problem also on the live site or can it be seen on other content on the staging or even replicated on new content? |

Actually those French strings do NOT come from the Media Library. I did check before reaching out to you. They come from WPML Media Translation. There is no live site with those Elementor pages. I can't push the staging to production due to numerous issues with WPML that stalled staging to a halt. This particular page (/lanaudiere-wireless-home-security/) is brand-new content. This occurred on many other pages before. I have been contacting WPML support for the past 3 weeks about this and many other issues. Very little progress has been made to resolve my nightmare issues. |

WPML Media Translation usually is only needed, if you wish to replcae images with alternaitve image version in other languages. The issue here seems to be, that various images have been uploaded to the French as default language. This means the site default language used to be set to French or the admin language was set to French when uploading the images. You can see this on WPML > Media Translation by checking the flags. It would be ideal if they would all show up in English, as English is your site default language. Instead, for example, there are images marked as French, while having English text. This can also occur if you upload images direclty on a French post or page. I would suggest removing those images from the database and then uploading the images again while using only English as source language. If you agree, I can offer to try to cleanup the database but I suggest you first take a backup. Then images should be uploaded in site's default language and WPML will use the same image in all languages. |

The workaround you are suggesting might fix the symptoms, but not the cause, in my humble opinion, based on my 2/3 weeks of nightmare with WPML. No doubt, WPML creates this mess on the fly. WPML seems to be creating those false French images in the Media Translation. Creating not just one, but sometimes several of them for each image translation done in ATE. Unless the programmers fix it, the nightmare will NEVER end, in my opinion (as a former computer programmer). The default language has NEVER changed. I have NEVER utilized WordPress in French, nor have I ever utilized WPML in French as the primary language. I have been working in English for the past 35 years. So much, writing in French is difficult for me. I have to re-learn to write in French, to tell you the truth, to serve my French-speaking customers. |

BTW, you were witness of the step I took to recreate this issue as I followed your recommendations to the teeth. And then boom, that issue surface on a new page to which image texts had never been translated. You should translate the next page in line by yourself, if you want to make sure I'm telling you the truth. You could do that on staging20. Go ahead and do the translation for the same page as here. And see if you can reproduce the issue. You will... |

Thank you for the detailed information. A possible reason for the issue could be this: I have applied the workaround to staging20. As a workaround for the existing media, I would suggest you go to WPML > Settings > Media Translation > How to handle media library texts and disable the option: "Translate media library texts with posts" I further clicked the "Start" button inside this section, to sync the media library again. As the moment the issue does not longer occur on my test page which prior to the changes displayed the issue: hidden link Please give this a quick test on staging20 and let me know how it went. |
