Background of the issue:
We are encountering an issue with WPML during our monthly migration process and need guidance on how to address it. Each month, we migrate our website for maintenance and updates from fabricegrinda.com to prod-new.fabricegrinda.com. After completing maintenance, we migrate the site back from prod-new.fabricegrinda.com to fabricegrinda.com.

Symptoms:
After this month’s migration to prod-new.fabricegrinda.com, the following warning appeared: "This site has moved to a new location." The warning mentions that translations done on fabricegrinda.com won’t appear on prod-new.fabricegrinda.com, and editing translations on prod-new.fabricegrinda.com is disabled. Additionally, it gives us the following options: Mark the site as a copy and enable automatic translations, or indicate that the site should remain at prod-new.fabricegrinda.com.

Questions:
Which option should we select from the warning message, considering we will move the site back to fabricegrinda.com after completing the maintenance?

Hello,

thanks for contacting us.

That is expected and normal to appear. Moving your site from development to production or creating a copy of your site affects your WPML site key, automatic translations, and features of the Advanced Translation Editor. WPML walks you through setting up your site correctly after a URL change.

If you are planing to use this website, then you can select it as copy.

Please check:

Drazen

In prod-new.fabricegrinda.com, should I select 'Mark as Copy'? After maintenance, when switching back to fabricegrinda.com, what option should I choose?

Hello,

yes, mark your staging site prod-new.fabricegrinda.com as a copy or you can leave just like that if do not plan to do any work currently there.

I am not sure if you will get the same banner in your live website, it should work fine, but if you wish yes you can mark your live website as a copy.

Please check shared docs to understand what copy / moved means in this situation.

Regards,
Drazen
