Sergio

Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate the images titles on the portfolio using WPML on my site hidden link.

This is what I did:
-entered the PL version of the homepage, select to duplicate it, and translate it independently with WordPress Editor
-I translated to the new language (to English)
-I translated also the "Portfolio" section to English (opening the photos, changed their titles)
-all was working fine.

I had the homepage fully translated.
But for some reason after few days the English titles disappeared from the portfolio images and are reverted to Polish.

This happened already 3 times in the last 1,5 months!
Something happens, probably during other edits, and the english images titles disappear, and become Polish... like it duplicates once again from the Polish page.

Can you please help me to find out what is the reason? Maybe there is a better way to re-translate this portfolio widget/element?

Symptoms:
Elementor portfolio overwrites itself from time to time.

Questions:
How can I prevent the Elementor portfolio from overwriting itself?
What steps should I follow to translate image titles in the portfolio using WPML?

Hello,

To better assist you, could you please confirm which editor you are currently using for translating the portfolio page?

Additionally, can you please check if there is a translation currently in progress in WPML's Translation Management?
Sometimes, if a page was previously edited with the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) and is now being edited manually or vice versa, it can cause overwriting or reversion issues.</p>

To check for translations in progress: Go to WPML → Translation Management → Translation Jobs and see if the portfolio page appears there. If it is still pending or in progress, it could be causing conflicts.

Best Regards,
Otto

Please read the first point in my list:

============
This is what I did:
-entered the PL version of the homepage, select to duplicate it, and translate it independently with WordPress Editor
============

Also to be more precise... I didn't write about translating the Portfolio page.
The 3rd point of my list says about the "Portfolio" section" not portfolio page.

The problem is with the portfolio section INSIDE the homepage.

There is no translation progress in WPML's Translation Management as I do everything with WordPress Editor.

Hello, please check here:

is it a secure reply?

Sergio

I want to send the link to duplicator, but I need a secure form.
I posted and immediately deleted the link because I can see only "#16969345Edit | Reply" and not the secure message box as I used to see...

Hello,

I checked the site.

Let me confirm:
- The portfolio section is an Elementor Gallery element
- You select images from the Media Library, and they are displayed
- The problem is with the image titles, which randomly display Polish title in the English translation

Is that correct?

I suggest using the WPML add-on Media Translation, and make sure image titles are translated in WPML > Media Translation.

Please, give it a try and let me know if the translations remain now.

Best Regards,
Otto

Sergio

Almost correct.

I wouln't say that randomly they display the Polish title in the English translation.
It is more precise to say that they keep displaying the English titles in the English translation for some times, sometimes hours, sometimes days. The suddenly all the titles go back to Polish in the English translation.

Probably it happens when the client changes something in the Polish page. Sometimes they fixed some spelling mistakes.

It happened even to me when I translated the whole English homepage for the fist time.
After few minutes I completed the translation in English, the Polish titles came back! That was so baaad.

Here is how I used to translate the titles:
-I go to the polish edit page.
-I click on the pencil "Wordpress editor" is selected
-the english edit page appears
-I click on edit in Elementor
-Elementor editor is opened
-I click on the portfolio gallery on the English homepage
-the edit gallery appears on the left sidebar of Elementor
-I click one by one those photos (in the screenshot attached) and in the window that appears I change the titles to English

Hello,

Thanks for clarifying.

I still think that WPML Media may help here. Instead of editing the titles when editing the page, translate the image titles in WPML > Media Translation.

I can't confirm this will avoid the issue since there are no clear steps to reproduce it, but I think it will help.

Can you try it?

Best Regards,
Otto

Hmmm I don't have "Media Translation" in the wpml menu. Can you please suggest what's the next step?
