This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The client is building a website for a diverse group of users in Woodside, Queens and needs to add Tagalog as a translation. However, Tagalog is not listed among the pre-configured languages in WPML.

Solution:

If you're experiencing this issue, we recommend adding Tagalog as a custom language. You can do this by navigating to WPML > Languages > Site Languages. For detailed instructions on adding a custom language, please refer to our documentation: Editing WPML's Languages Table and view the process here: Adding Custom Language. Please ensure to perform a site backup before making these changes.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I'm building a website for a very diverse group of users in Woodside, Queens. We'll need to add Tagalog as a translation, but I don't see it among the list of languages on WPML.

Symptoms:
Tagalog is not featured in the list of languages on WPML.

Questions:
Is there any way I can add Tagalog as a language in WPML and translate it for each page?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you to resolve the issue.

By default WPML has a set of pre-configured languages (65 languages now), it is based on the widely used languages - https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/pre-configured-languages/

But we can add languages that are not on the list as a custom language by navigating to WPML > Languages > Site Languages. Refer to the following links for more details.

Please try it after a site backup and let us know your feedback.

Hello! Thank you for getting back to me.

I followed the article you mentioned and was able to successfully add 'Filipino' as a new language: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/editing-wpmls-languages-table/#add-custom-languages

However, now that I've added it and manually translated the homepage, I'm not seeing the flag in the list of drop-downs.

The site URL is hidden link

Thanks Bigul!

I see, per your video, what was missing with the Filipino language translation.

I wanted to ask: Do you have any documentation on how to use automatic translation? I'm familiar with how to manually translate each page, but I'd like to know how to use automatic translation.

Any documents you can provide would be most appreciated!

Best,

Devin F
