This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client has a Custom Taxonomy called 'Product Categories' and posts in a Custom Post Type called 'Manufacturing Price Updates' that are grouped by these categories. The client wants to display the posts in the Spanish version of the page with Spanish category names without converting the posts themselves to Spanish.
Solution:
We recommend translating the categories at WPML > Taxonomy Translation. Here's a guide to help you: Translating Post Categories and Custom Taxonomies.
Additionally, the posts need to exist in the second language. You can either translate the posts or duplicate them. To duplicate posts in bulk, use the Dashboard at WPML > Translation Management. Here's a guide for that: How to Duplicate Pages and Posts in Bulk. Duplicates will display the same content in all languages and update automatically when the original content is edited.

I have a Custom Taxonomy called 'Product Categories' and I have posts in a Custom Post Type called 'Manufacturing Price Updates' that are grouped by the Categories.

I don't want to convert the posts to Spanish but I would like the posts to be displayed in the spanish version of the page with spanish category names. From what I can tell though, I would need to convert the taxonomy to change the term names and when I do that then all the posts in my custom post type all need to be tagged again. Is there a way to change the category names for display. Something like a string replacement. How do I make this work?

Hello,

Categories are synced from original content to translation.

To display translated categories for each post, you will need to translate the categories at WPML > Taxonomy Translation.

Guide:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-post-categories-and-custom-taxonomies/

Further, you will need to make sure, that posts do exist in a second language.

This means you would need to translate the posts, but it also would be sufficient to duplicate the posts.

To create duplicates you can use the Dashboard inside WPML > Translation Management.

Guide:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#how-to-duplicate-pages-and-posts-in-bulk

A duplicate will display the same content in all languages and will be updated each time you edit and save the original content.

Best regards
Andreas
