This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
If you're experiencing issues with duplicated content in Elementor after using the 'duplicate content' mode in WPML and wish to switch to using the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) for translations, follow these steps.
Solution:
1. Optionally, navigate to your content list (e.g., Pages), filter by the secondary language, send the duplicated content to the Trash, and permanently delete it.
2. Go to WPML -> Settings -> 'How to translate the content' section -> Select 'Advanced Translation Editor' -> Save the changes.
3. Edit the content you want to translate, ensure the 'Translation Editor' option is selected in the Languages block on the right column, and click the plus (+) icon to add the translation.
4. Alternatively, you can use WPML -> Translation Management to search for content to translate, select it, and send it for translation using the options at the bottom of the table.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I have mistakenly used the 'duplicate content' mode for WPML, making the content appear twice every time with Elementor. I want to translate everything from the start using the advanced translation editor.

Symptoms:
Content is duplicated every time with Elementor due to using the 'duplicate content' mode.

Questions:
What is the best way to switch to the advanced translation editor?
Should I delete every translation to start over with the advanced translation editor?

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us

To use the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) you can follow these steps:
- Optional: You can go to the content list (for example Pages) -> Filter by the secondary language -> Send the duplicated content to the Trash and then delete it from the Trash
- Go to WPML -> Settings -> 'How to translate the content' (second section) -> Select 'Advanced Translation Editor' -> Save the changes
- Edit the content you want to translate -> Go to Languages block on the right column -> Make sure the 'Translation Editor' option is selected -> Click on the plus (+) icon to add the translation
- As an alternative, you can go to WPML -> Translation Management -> Search the content for translation -> Select it and send it for translation using the options that appear at the bottom of the table.

Please let me know if you need further assistance and I will be more than happy to help 🙂
Regards,
Carlos
