Hi,

I would like to know if using the wp all import plugin I can also update existing products and if to do so I always have to follow these instructions:

https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/importing-multiple-languages-with-wp-all-import-and-wpml/#step -1-prepare-your-multilingual-content-for-importing

Thank you!

Hello there

Thank you for contacting us. I am happy to help you.

First of all updating products already in your store, there are several details that you need to do. The most important is that if this detail :

https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/importing-multiple-languages-with-wp-all-import-and-wpml/#add-a-unique-identifier-to-your-spreadsheets

Adding a unique identifier to your spreadsheet is a required step. To connect the default language content and translations, you need to use an ID number. You cannot use other custom fields, such as SKU.

Also, you mention: "If to do so I always have to follow these instructions" May I ask you to explain a little bit more what is your actual question?

Regards,
Andreas

My question is: to update products on WooCommerce (not to import new ones), using Wp All Import, I always have to follow the procedure described here: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/importing-multiple-languages-with-wp-all-import-and-wpml/#step ?

My apologies but I cannot understand what you are asking, because preparing a CSV file is how WP All Import is working, and having correct translations is a requirement for WPML ALL Import.

I will describe the process just in case. If you wish to ask something specific please ask me at the end.

To Update products you need a file XML or CSV with all the details you wish to update.

The columns you will have is based on what you need to update. For example, if you wish to update short description, you would need the column with the unique identifier (will come back to this shortly ) and the short description, and one last column with the language code.

Then you need to prepare the import template in WP ALL Import. You can do this one time and save it for future purposes.

In the import template, you will need to define the unique identifier. Because of this you need to read this important details when you have already content in your site :

https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/importing-multiple-languages-with-wp-all-import-and-wpml/#adding-translations-when-the-default-language-content-already-exists-on-the-site

I hope things would be more clear. If not do not hesitate to ask me what you wish to explain and I will do it 🙂

Regards,
Andreas

You've already answered me... I just wanted to know if there were any differences between the procedure for inserting new products and updating existing products.

Thanks
