Hi,
Site : hidden link

The site is originally in Dutch. I want it to be translated to English

I have few requirements
1. My site should be translated automatically based on user country.
2. The All in One SEO meta title and description should be also translated
3. The url link of the pages should be translated

Currently WPML supports browser based translation, but this translation occurs once in a day and resets after 24hrs. As a reults the site title, url, meta title and description are translated only once. On the second time, site title, url and metas are shown in original language along with the content.

how to prevent the site title, url and metas from being shown in original language dutch.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out.

It seems there might be a bit of confusion regarding how WPML operates. WPML doesn't facilitate browser-based translations; instead, it utilizes redirects based on the browser language.

When a visitor accesses your site with a browser set to Spanish, for example, and if your site isn't translated into Spanish, WPML will redirect them to the default language. The daily reset you mentioned actually refers to the language cookie resetting, not the translation itself. This behavior is intentional and necessary for allowing visitors to switch between languages. You can learn more about browser redirection in WPML here.

Regarding your main requirements, WPML doesn't support real-time translation based on user language. Users choose the language they want to view the site in, or you can implement geolocation redirection with compatible plugins. However, instant translation based on a visitor's country or language preference isn't feasible with existing plugins.

For translating All In One SEO meta titles and descriptions, you can refer to the documentation hidden link">here.

Regarding URL translation, WPML handles this by default. You can configure these settings in WPML > Settings > Translated documents options > Page URL.

Let me know if you need further assistance or clarification on any of these points.

So Considering my site is in Dutch and I want to translate it in English,

The user browser language is in English,

Because of browser based translation, the translated text which includes site content, site(page) URL as well as seo metas will be shown in English at first.

After second time the user with browser language set to English will be shown the Dutch content, which the user will be able to change with the help of language dropdown, Am i Right?

After the user changes the language to English, will the site(page) URLas well as seo metas are going to be in Dutch or are they going to be translated to English?

What can be the impacts of the these type of translations on SEO Indexing?

Thanks

WPML will use custom database tables inside WordPress to save language information, translate strings, and connect contents in different languages.

https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-tables/

Then the language switchers determine which is currently the active language on the site and based on this information WPML will display the respective content.

The user browser language does not have any impact on the WPML translations.

Do you maybe refer to the automatic redirect by browser language feature?
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/automatic-redirect-based-on-browser-language/

For proper SEO indexing you will need to use one of these plugins:

- Yoast SEO
or
- Rankmath SEO

Then install our add-on WPML SEO which will allow you to translate the SEO metadata of each content and also the global SEO metadata of your site.
