I am using Themify Ultra with their Themify Builder.

I have started using the Advanced Translation Editor in WPML.

I would like to make changes to the design of my website, but keep the translations.

When using the Classic Translation Editor, I was always forced to change each translated page design by copying the page to its translations. I was hoping that the ATE will help me having to translate everything again.

Here is a video, but please answer the questions below 🙂
hidden link

1. How does it actually work?

2. Do I still need to copy the content to the translations?

3. Is the translations always saved in the translation memory?

4. Do I need to use the same text boxes for the translations to be remembered?

5. What is the best way to work when making a design change on the original language and want to reflect those on the translated pages?

Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support!

Even if you change design, translation memory should pull the translation if the segment was not changed.

https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/how-wpml-keeps-track-of-your-translations/

By segments we typically mean sentences, it should not matter which location they are. Also when you update your original, in order for this change to be reflected in the translation, you need to update the translation as well.

I believe this will also clarify bit more:
