Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate my website using WPML with Divi5, which is still in Beta. I want to ensure that my images appear in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) for translation which it doesn't so no translation is performed of images and that my Glosario terms are applied correctly. Here is the link to the page where the issue can be seen: hidden link

Symptoms:
Images do not show up for translation in ATE. The Glosario does not apply during translation in Divi. The first 9 of 12 Glosario words do not appear in the panel, and I cannot edit or revise them. Only the last 3 words are visible and editable. The ATE does not use the first 9 words when making translations.

Questions:
Why are my images not appearing in the ATE for translation?
Why is my Glosario not applying correctly during translation in Divi?

Hello,

Until one of my colleagues assists you on this matter, please let me inform and guide you on solving the issues.

About the images:

Are your images maybe part of section, row, or column backgrounds?

If so, please take note that our developers are already aware of this issue, and until now, it is sadly not possible to translate such images with the WPML Translation Editor.

You can make an exception in such cases and add the images directly in Divi in the second language.

Also, take note that our team has recently begun working on compatilbity for Divi 5 as we were waiting for the beta version to be available.

Until now, not all Divi 5 widgets will be translatable. You might experience exceptions with Blurb, Contact Field, Contact Form, Post Nav, Post Slider, Search, and almost all Fullwidth and WooCommerce Modules.

About the issue with the Glossary:

It sounds as if there is a conflict between WPML and another plugin or the theme you are using. Have you already tested if purging all cache from the site solves the issue?

If not, could you please create a copy (staging site) of the website and try running it with minimal setup to see if the issue persists?

1) Deactivate all additional plugins that are unrelated to WPML and our add-ons. Does the issue persist?

2) If the issue persists, please switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty-One to see if the issue might be theme-related. If this still does not solve the issue, please let me know.

3) If the issue goes away when testing only with WPML and Divi or a default theme, start by reactivating the plugins individually or activating them in small groups. This way, check where the issue recurs to identify the plugin causing the issue.

Once we identify the cause, we can then attempt to replicate the issue and then escalate it internally. In this case, I'll provide a test site with WPML.

If you're unable to set up a copy of your website, please let us know, and we will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Andreas

Hi Andreas, thanks for attending me on a weekend 🙂 appreciate it. I opened another thread some days ago because of similar issues but understood that there where still some glitches on the DIVI5 bachease of its beta status, these including blurbs, background etc etc. So I remade all the pages changing the blurbs into a simple image module to get same layout design but ending up getting same result (no images get loaded in ETA, does not matter if I translate myself or automatic translate, same result. What I do see is the url of the image which is the only thing drawn into ETA). Then I tried changing manually all the images uploading each versions images one by one including the ALT texts which I translated manually but after some time the layouts just went back to Spanish pictures and ALT texts without me doing anything. Giving that my layout was changed and that now we are talking plain image modules it makes me believe that there must be a glitch in my setup or configuration inside WPML, I can't believe that this is common issues and I am the first to appreciate it. Also about my troubles with my glosario, I have disconnected every plugin on my site except from live chat which I cannot disconnect but nothing changes in my Glosario, I keep having the 7 latest options included available which can be edited/deleted at my demand but the first 9 options made are not showing so no edit/erase can be done, this is actually the worst part because I cannot include the same words again nor can I erase them. This problem results in my pages changing H1 and other stuff that really affects my SEO, please help me out on this as soon as posible. I would like to know if you or the team could erase my whole Glosario and I can redo it ?? This could be a quick fix to make all my problems resolved about this. So about setting up a stage site to see what is going on, I remember some years ago trying to do the same with you Andreas 🙂 and I wanted to tell you that I am awful on any back-end stuff, SORRY. I am just a newbie, still after all of these years but I still really don't have a clue on any back-end related stuff. So is it posible to beg for a helping hand on this ???? The only thing I have not done from the answers in your thread is the part saying to change theme to see if its theme related. This I did not simply because I am afraid of losing all my styling. I have never had the reason to do this so I am not sure what the consequences are and that made me hold back. If there is no threat of anything happening then I could also do this but I really think that it is all about my WPML, please let me know how to advance on this. Thanks alot for your time and happy Sunday

Hello,
My name is Carlos, and I will continue working on this ticket.

1.- I understand you are a newbie with the backend; however, it is possible to create a staging site very easily by using the WP Staging plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-staging/), which is free and easy to use.

I kindly ask that you try creating a staging site using the mentioned plugins and share the access credentials in your next message, which I have set to private. This will allow us to reproduce the issue and run further tests without affecting the production site.

2.- We can continue in Spanish if that is easier for you 🙂

Looking forward to your message.
Regards,
Carlos

Thank you very much for sharing the credentials requested.

I ran some troubleshooting steps and adjusted the configuration. Then I assigned myself a content for translation and the images are appearing correctly in ATE. Can you confirm that you the images are showing up in ATE for translation?

I have made a page called "pruebas WPML" and when I try to translate automatic it says no credit and when I try manually I get the message "assign translator" which I have never tried to receive before. I am the only user translating stuff so I don't know why this message is shown. Leaving screenshots.
So I tried to go back to pages and select the plus sign to make a manual translation and when ETA pulls up the content there are no images inside.

Could you please tell me what I have done wrong during install to get this message about assigning translators.

Hi,

Please add your user as a translator here: hidden link
Add all language pairs and that will solve the issue 🙂

I have tried but it does not show any known users at all. When I introduce my user the button for continuing does not work. I did all this the first time I saw the notice but never got about resolving this and just put everything on automatic translate to finish publishing. From one point which I can't remember it took away my possibility to translate on my own. Which is the preferred option by me, always (our keywords are very diferent in Spanish from the rest)

Also, I have just finished the automatic translation of ENGLISH on the page created and I do not get any translation on images, ALT texts are still in Spanish which would mean that Images are in Spanish because I have manually made the ALT texts in English

I double-checked the site, and your user is an administrator, so you shouldn't have any problems translating the site. As a workaround, you can create a new user and use it to translate the content.

Also, in the staging site (not in the production site), you must go to Plugins -> Add new -> Commercial tab -> Unregister the site and then register it again with a new key.

I done all the task about the license, I am using the new user created as administrator which now let me do my own translations. The rest although is the same, no images comes up in ETA, just the url (meaning the ETA does know that there is a picture). And end result is the same the pictures shown on user side in English are the Spanish images.

The most strange thing is that I keep getting One Image up en the ETA but only on one url: our FAQ but no other url shows any images in the ETA
So something does work on my site but others are not

Hi,
The information that appears in ATE related to the images is correct. If you want to show different images per language, I recommend that you follow the steps described in this guide: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/
