This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is using Elementor and has encountered an issue where images in the default language are not syncing correctly across translations. Despite enabling Media Duplication Settings in the WPML Media Translation plugin and attempting to duplicate media for existing translations, the old images still appear instead of the new ones.

Solution:
We recommend the following steps to resolve the image synchronization issue:
1. Perform a bulk translation to all languages using the method 'Self'.
2. Navigate to translation tasks and export the content to XLIFF.
3. Import the same XLIFF file back.
This process should update the images across all translations.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket.

Background of the issue:
I am using Elementor as CMS.

I am trying to get all images synced to the NL images, which is the default language. I have installed the WPML Media Translation plugin and enabled the Media Duplication Settings. I followed the steps to duplicate media for existing translations.

The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link. I expected to see the new image at hidden link, but instead, I got the old image at hidden link.
The new image should be hidden link, but the old image is hidden link.

Symptoms:
The images in the default language are not being changed in other languages as expected. The old image is still appearing instead of the new image.

Questions:
Why are the images in other languages not syncing with the default language images?
How can I ensure that the new image appears instead of the old image?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. Before passing this thread to my colleague, I would like to share some suggestions and possible solutions for the issues you mentioned.

Please open the page having the issue for editing in the original language, and make sure the following options of *Media attachments* of the WPML language widget (on the right side of the screen) are selected.

- Duplicate uploaded media to translations
- Duplicate featured image to translations

Also, please upgrade to the latest version of WPML (4.7.3) after a full site backup {mandatory}. And increase *WP Memory Limit* to *256*(the minimum required memory limit for WPML is *128*). Please check the following links for more details

Hello,

I did all the steps you described. Pressed start again system says it is duplicating images for over 5 min. But after that, still all old images are there.
I got over 100 pages in 6 translations, so I really need this function to work.
What is the next step to procede?

For debugging purposes, if I manually open "edit translation" and press complete translation images are updated. But this is very manual work.

Thanks!

Twan

Hello Twan,
My name is Carlos, and I will continue working on this ticket.

The steps you described in your last message (updating the translated content) are the correct steps to update the translated content, including the update of the images. These steps can be time-consuming, and the alternative is to send the content in bulk for automatic translation.

Best regards,
Carlos

Hello,

I do not need any translations. I just need update for the images. Is there any workaround to do this myself without sending bulk to translation company?

Best regards,

Twan

Hi,

Yes, the workaround is to edit each content in the original language -> Save it and update the translation. The same steps you already described and I mentioned on my previous ticket.

Regards!

Hi,

Your solution is not doable for 250 pages. I found it out by myself:
- Do a bulk translation to all languages -> method Self
- Go to translation tasks -> export to XLIFF
- Import same XLIFF
- Images are updated!

Hope it helps! Put it in your answers database!

Twan

Hi Twan,

The solution you are describing carries more risks than sending the content for automatic translation. If the content was already translated using ATE, then the translation memory will take care of the translation, which means it won't cost you any credits, and it will be done automatically for you.

In any case, if that solution works for you, I'm happy that it solved the issue on your site.
