This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to generate a sitemap for your website using WPML, but the sitemap_index.xml file is only available in the original language ("pt") and not in the translated languages ("en" and "fr").
Solution:
If you're experiencing this issue, it's important to note that your site uses different directories per language as the language URL structure. In this scenario, you will have one sitemap that includes all languages. You can only have a separate sitemap per language if your site uses a different domain per language. For example:

www.sitename.com

for English

www.sitename.es

for Spanish

Background of the issue:
I am trying to generate a sitemap for my website hidden link using WPML. The sitemap_index.xml file is only available in the original language _pt and not in the translated languages _en and _fr.

Symptoms:
The sitemap_index.xml file does not exist for the _en and _fr languages.

Questions:
Why is the sitemap_index.xml not generated for the _en and _fr languages?
How can I ensure the sitemap is available for all languages using WPML?

Hello,

Your site uses different directories per language as language URL structure.

In this case, you will have one sitemap that includes all languages.

You can only have a sitemap per language if your site uses a different domain per language.

Example:
hidden link > English
hidden link > Spanish
