I have started to translate support.taggrs. Other than pages and post, we also have a knowledge base and faq. Where can I translate those. Because those are not under translation management.

Hi there.

Before this ticket gets assigned to my colleagues, I will try to help.

If the things you mentioned are added as custom post types, you will need to first go to WPML > Settings > Post Types section > and set those post types as "Translatable".

Then, try to go back to WPML > Translation Management > and see if you now see them in the dropdown.

Kind regards,

Hi Niels,

Thank you for contacting WPML support, I'd be happy to help you with this issue.

I see you are using the plugin DV FAQ (hidden link) to create the knowledge base and FAQ on your site.
This plugin is not available in our list of compatible plugins, which you can check here https://wpml.org/plugin/

To be able to report the compatibility issues we need to replicate the issue on a clean installation. I created a clean installation of WordPress, WPML, and all necessary WPML add-ons. You can access the WordPress dashboard using the link below:
hidden link

Kindly follow the steps below:

- Don’t restore your site there.
- Install DV FAQ plugin.
- Try to replicate the issue.
- Then let me know the steps to replicate it.

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi,

On the sandbox site, I do some steps below to translate the FAQ post and display the translation in the frontend.

- Go to WPML > Settings > Post types translation section > Set the post type "dvfaq" preference to "Translatable - only show translated items".
- Go to FAQ > Translate the FAQ post.
- Create a new page > Copy the FAQ post shortcode and add it to the page content > Translate the page. For example:
[dvfaqsingle headinglevel="h3" postid="59" skin="custom"]

Can you please confirm it works on the sandbox site?

Now you have to create a separate shortcode for each page but you want to translate the whole page in 1x without having separate shortcodes.

Like this page: hidden link..*_ga*ODEwNDY5OTAyLjE2ODkwNjY4MTk.*_ga_RLBMR4Z9MK*MTY4OTA2NjgxOS4xLjAuMTY4OTA2NjgxOS4wLjAuMA..

Hi,

On your site, I see you are using the Elementor widget FAQ Category to display a list of FAQ posts. Then you just need to translate the page to display translation FAQ posts also.
Please check on the sandbox site hidden link

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi,

Please follow the suggested steps above to enable the translation for post type FAQ https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translation-52/#post-13973845

Then you can go to WPML > Translation Management > Filter by type Question to translate FAQ posts. Please check this screenshot hidden link

Refer documentation https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-custom-posts/

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

When i am on my own website: When I set the FAQ (dvfaq) to translatable and then click save, it doesn't save...

When I refresh it is not saved. I think maybe that's where the problem lies.

Hi,

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.

❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌
You can use this plugin to create the backup:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme and to change configurations on the site if needed. This is also a reason the backup is critical.

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi,

I can set the post type "dvfaq" preference to "Translatable - only show translated items" and save it as well. Now you can go to WPML > Translation Management > Filter by type Question to translate FAQ posts. Please check this screenshot hidden link

Look forward to your reply.

Hi,

It is done. Now you can see two types "Forum" and "Article" (Knowledge Base) are available in Translation Management, please check this screenshot hidden link

I do not see two post types "onderwerpen" and "antwoorden" available on your site. If you activate them later, you can go to WPML > Settings > Post Types Translation > Set the preference of those post types to "Translatable - only show translated items" > Save changes, to translate posts of those post types.

I also suggest you contact the FAQ plugin author and ask them to join our Go Global program where our Compatibility developers will help them to make their product compatible with WPML.
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/go-global-program/

I hope I was helpful. Don't hesitate to ask if you find any problem along the way, I'll gladly help you.
