the site has 2 languages English and Dutch.
I need the dutch to load first automatically.
how can I do that? I hope it is not changing default language as i understood that this is very dangerous and could lead to major issues,

Hi there.

Yes, the way WPML works is that it will always serve the language that is set as default first.

You can enable browser language redirection (https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/automatic-redirect-based-on-browser-language/) but you can't do more than that if you don't change the default language on the site.

OK, what are the risks of changing the default language?

Hi there.

Nothing should break.

Please take a look at my colleague's response here:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/default-language-impact/#post-13005277

I also recommend that you first create a full website backup before doing changes like that.

Also, do not hesitate to open a new ticket for each unique issue in case you encounter any along the way so that we can tackle issues one by one accordingly.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei

Hi there and welcome back!

From my understanding, the initial issue reported here was resolved and you made the switch.

However, it seems that there is still a different issue happening that you are looking to have fixed.

Per our Support Policy, we can handle only one issue per ticket.

Continuing with one issue per ticket helps not only supporters to focus on one issue at once but also enables other users to find solutions to their questions faster.

So practically we need to have 1 unique ticket per unique issue as I mentioned in my reply above:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/change-which-language-loads-first/#post-14159069

I created a new ticket for you in regard to the new issue here:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/split-i-changed-default-language-and-now-i-cant-translate-the-divi-footer-template/

You will be notified via email when there's an answer to that ticket, too.

Also, can you please mark this current ticket as resolved?

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Mihai
