  1. Hi,
First of all thank you for your great job! It’s seriously one of the WordPress’ master pieces.

I would really like to use the WPML-plugin, but the problem is that I don’t have enough money at the moment to make some kind of one-time payment.

Take this serious, please. I love your plugin and your work (no kidding) and I really want to have it on my website. Is it possible to split this amount ($79) in, for example, 2-3 parts? I am talking about the Multilingual CMS license.

Please, I beg you on my knees.

    Kind regards,
    Przemek

    • Hi Przemek,
thank you for your kind words. For technical reasons, it is impossible for us to accept payments in instalments.

If you cannot spend $79 now, you can start with the WPML Blog subscription and upgrade to WPML Multilingual later – you will pay the difference only. You will find a link to do so in your WPML account. And you can do it anytime. The Blog version doesn’t include the String translation plugin which allows you to translate your theme custom options and additional strings but with the basic version you will be able to translate pages, posts, categories, tags, menues.

Please note that you can use one WPML subscription for all your sites (and sites you build for your customers) so your investment in WPML will quickly pay off.

  2. Once the plugin is purchased, could we use it only once on the site? because we want to test it in preprod before installing it directly in our principle site. Is it possible to install same plugin on preproduction andd production

    • Yes, you can. You just need to buy one WPML subscription and you can use WPML on unlimited number of sites (yours or your customers)

  3. Hello Agnes / team WPML,

We have an important question. We installed WPML and made English the primary language, like you told.
But now we have the following problem: a lot of listings from the other language (Dutch) disappeared.

We still see the listings at the back of the website, just like the categories. But it does not show them at the front.

For example these dive sites at the dutch part of the websites.
or restaurant specials at the dutch part of the website

(I did send the url’s by email, I don’t put it here)

If you go to the English version, you’ll see that the listings are all there.

Strange thing is also: at the Dutch version this ones at listing categorie ‚Verblijf’ are working just normal: see url’s I’d send.

Can you help us out? My webmaster doesn’t know what to do eighter.

    Kind regards,

    Sandra

    • Hi Sandra,
could you please go to our support page and register a ticket. Using support forum is the best place where technical issues can be checked and addressed in the most effective way. Thank you.

    • With WPML you will translate basic elements and contents of your website regardless of the theme you use. However, the more “sophisticated: your theme is, there are more “tricky” strings to translate (theme custom options etc) so if you want to translate every single element of your theme it’s better to choose a theme that was tested by our Compatibility Team. You will find that list here.

    • Hi, you need to log into your WPML account and you will find a link to do so there. If you don’t remember your password, please use this link to reset it.

Please note that your WPML account needs to be active to use the discount price. If it already expired you will still be able to renew it . Please check the options in your account.

  4. Hi, I am looking at a proof of concept for a client and was wondering if you have a free trial of the plugin just so that I can test it for them to make sure it is going to do exactly what they want?

  5. Hello – Just a couple of questions:

Does this plugin create duplicate pages of the site content?

Also can the plug in be set up to serve the correct language base on geographic location verses displaying the default then switching it over. For instance if I were in Spain and pulled up the website would the site automatically serve the pages in Spanish? or would the user have to switch the content over to Spanish (assuming the default language is English)?

And is it possible to create pages for one specific language that do not display in other languages? For instance I have a portfolio piece that was done for a Spanish client and will display a JPG of the work we did. Can we set this page to only display / dynamically pull in to the landing page when set to a specific language?

    • Hello Jennifer,

Does this plugin create duplicate pages of the site content?

There is such an option but it’s up to you if it will be used or not. For each post/page you can create a duplicate, which means that the same content will appear for both languages or you can translate your posts independently.

Please note that WPML doesn’t translate automatically.

Also can the plug in be set up to serve the correct language base on geographic location

WPML has an option (disabled by default, easy to enable in WPML settings) to detect the user’s languages based on his/her browser settings (the language set in her browser).

Please note that this option is not so important as it might seem to be. The purpose of creating a multilingual site is to attract organic traffic from search engines such as Google. If your site has valuable contents in a given language, you will get new leads in a natural way, meaning your visitors will find the page they need in Google in the language there were using.

Besides, if you make your language switcher easy to notice and it will stand out, visitors will easily switch to the language they need.

And is it possible to create pages for one specific language that do not display in other languages?

Yes, it is possible with WPML.

  6. Hi,
    I have installed a non-paid version of WPML on a client’s site.
Today I am not able to buy the lifetime license, and I would like to know how the annual renewal version works. Do I have to renew it yearly? why should I? Maybe my client will buy it, then it will be for just one site.
If I decide to turn it to a lifetime license, how much will it cost?

    Thank you.

    • Hi Gabriela,
renewing your WPML is optional. If you don’t renew it, the version of WPML you installed won’t stop working, you will lose access to our support forum and future versions. You can upgrade to Lifetime from the “Multilinagul CMS” anytime and you will pay the difference ($116 instead of $195). If you buy the WPML subscription on your behalf, you will be able to use it for all sites you build for all your customers.

  7. Hi,
We are having a kids website to which we were looking for an impressive theme. While going through similar websites, we found http://www.kidsstoppress.com/ and the theme was pretty good. We are looking for a similar theme and we found that the theme was developed by OnTheGoSystems. Can you help us on this regard?

  8. Hello, I have bought the wpml plugin 3 hours ago. I recived a mail saying “Your account login and download instructions were sent in a separate email.”.
But I still haven’t recived it. I even tried the lost my password option, but nothing.

    • Your account looks normal and it has the same email that you’ve used in this comment. I just reset and resent your login details. Can you have a look and see if our emails are caught in your SPAM filter? They go from purchases@wpml.org.

  9. Hi,
I have installed qTranslate-X but I’m not so happy about it.
Thus I would like to get a new translation plugin like WPML.

Nonetheless, some posts from qTranslate-X developers warned that uninstalling their plugin could damage websites and moreover is a very cumbersome task…

Do you have any experience of websites that successfully installed WPML after uninstalling qTranslate-X? If so how?
    Thanks,
    Fran

  10. Hello,

  11. Hi, we are web hosting company in Hong Kong, we have some questions below:

    1. We want to join Affiliate, may we know what is the process?

    2. Our customer was using WPML plugin before but already expired, their wordpress shows below 5 plugins are outdated, if we upgrade to “Multilingual CMS Lifetime”, then it can cover all below plugins’ update, isn’t it?

    WPML CMS Nav
    WPML Media
    WPML Multilingual CMS
    WPML String Translation
    WPML Translation Management

    3. We want to upgrade their subscription to “Multilingual CMS Lifetime”, may we know how much? Do we just need to pay the difference US$116 (US$195-US$79) ?
    How about the Affiliate rebate?

    • Hi,
      1. Joining our affiliate program is simple and you will find all instructions in your WPML account. Just use your individual affiliate link. You will find it in your WPML account. We will credit your account every time someone buys one of our products after coming from your affiliate link. You can see the pricing table in your WPML account. We pay using PayPal at the end of every month. There’s no maximum or minimum.
      2. Yes, the Lifetime subscription includes all the plugins you listed.
      3. You need to be logged in your WPML account and you will find a link there to upgrade. Yes, existing WPML customers can upgrade to Lifetime by paying $116. There is no Affiliate rebate.

    • Thanks for reply. However we can’t find anyway to register WPML account except placing an order, however we want to upgrade by paying US$116, but not US$195, so how can we upgrade and register?

      • You should already have an account, even if it expired, but I can’t find it for the email that you used in this comment. Can you check your other emails? You can reset the password in the login page (but you’ll need the username or email). If you can’t find your account, please use our contact form and give us your full name.

        https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/

Once you’re logged in, you’ll see the option to upgrade to a Lifetime account and pay only the difference.

      • Hello Ming,
thank you for submitting your form. I will ask the person who handles contact form requests to check your case. I’m sure you will get an answer and if there are any issues with your WPML account they will be solved so you can use WPML.

  12. Hello,

I am thinking to translate my site to Poland and Russian language and buy your “Multilingual CMS Lifetime” package.
Could you check my site and let me know if it will break something if I add your plugin.
Could you tell me how the SEO will be organized by your plugin. Especially how the canonical, alternate and hreflang attributes will look like for each language and how it will affect the speed of my site.

    Regards,
    Iliyan

    • Hello,
you can make your site available in Polish and Russian using WPML. We cannot check your site for you but the good news is that you can do it yourself without any risk since our refund policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days. During that probation period you can ask technical question in our support forum.

When you translate a post or a page WPML creates a new WordPress post so you can control its SEO attributes the same way as you would do for all your posts. WPML is compatible with the most popular SEO plugins (All in One SEO pack, WordPress SEO by Yoast) and allows you to translate all the elements you set with these plugins.

Installing WPML shouldn’t affect the speed of your site in any significant way but since the speed of a website depends on various factors, better to check it yourself and test with WPML in action.

  13. Hello! I am already a WordPress customer and I am looking for the right theme. Could you please provide an example page/preview or provide a link to site, where the Sahifa theme and WPML is shown? I would like to see what it looks like especially in the mobile version.
    Thank you!

    • Hi Alex. The Sahifa theme was tested by our Compatibility Team and it’s compatible. We don’t have any demo but you won’t see any significant changes when your theme is used with WPML. You will just see a language switcher (flags) and that’s it. If your theme is mobile ready, using WPML won’t affect it in any way. You will just see the same content in a different language.

  14. Hi WPML,

    I just reviewed https://wpml.org/home/comparing-wpml-free-paid-alternatives/ Thanks!

    I have a Pre-Sales question.

I am using the Portfolio Homepage of the Checkout theme (https://preview.arraythemes.com/checkout-edd/homepage-portfolio/ )

This theme requires the use of a plugin called Array Toolkit (https://wordpress.org/plugins/array-toolkit/) to help support the portfolio.

I want my website to be an English and Japanese website. The English side is done. Now I am requesting a professional translator to translate the text into Japanese. And, then I will use WPML to help me make the site bilingual.

Question 1: After I purchase and install WPML, I wonder if the WPML plugin will play nicely with the Array Toolkit plugin? Specifically, I am wondering if the WPML plugin can help me to translate the portfolio items? Or, will the theme refuse to have two sets (i.e. English and Japanese) of portfolio items? I am trying to keep the languages separate, and I am especially trying to avoid a situation where the visitor is on the Japanese side of the website and clicks through the portfolio items and is eventually served English items (and vice versa).

Question 2: Does WPML have a feature that detects the browser language setting and automatically take the visitor to their likely preferred language?

Thank you in advance for the favor of a reply.

    Best regards,
    Sean

P.S. I have looked through the theme’s documentation but could not find any relevant information on this matter: https://arraythemes.com/articles/checkout/

    • Hello Sean,

To answer your first question: depends on how the portfolio items were implemented. If a Custom Post Type was used, there is a good chance you will be able to translate your portfolio items using WPML (WPML allows you to translate posts based on Custom Post Types). This theme wasn’t tested by our compatibility so I cannot say how these non-standard elements will behave. On the theme site I can read that the theme is WPML compatible but sometimes the authors say so without solid testing. Better to check yourself. Our refund policy allows you to do so without any risk but you will have only 30 days.

To answer your second question: yes, WPML has such a feature. It is disabled by default but you can easily enable it in WPML settings.

  15. Hi,
I have specific set of pages on my wordpress installation [and will have more] and only those I want to make bilingual. No other pages or posts of my WP installation.

Can I install WPML and use it specifically for that purpose [exactly for this, nothing more]?

  16. hi,
    I have a WP blog on http://kar.ge

I want only certain pages [several hundred now, but will increase] to be bilingual [English/Georgian]. Is it possible with WPML to have just some pages and not all the website bilingual?

  17. And one more question: does the plugin automatically translate the site, and then we can edit the translation to our needs – or do we have to manually translate the pages and store the translations for the plugin to serve later?

    • WPML doesn’t translate automatically at all. You either enter your own translations or you send your contents to professional translation services integrated with WPML.

    • Best would be to check yourself. I can see that your website is base is based on the Story theme which wasn’t tested by our Compatibility Team. You will translate your regular pages and post without problems but you might have (but not necessarily) issues with translating custom specific elements. Our refund policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days without any risk.

  18. Does WPML plugin comes with auto update feature (to be able to get update notification and update the plugin at the WP dashboard – no manual update required)?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Susan, yes it does. First you install WPML as any other WordPress plugin, meaning you need to download it from your WPML account and upload to your WordPress site but then you can register it and you will see a message in your WP admin whenever a new version of WPML is available so you can click on it to install it without leaving your WordPress admin.

  19. Hello,

I have a question, I bought you plugin one year ago now my account is expired and also when i install WPML on any site or try to update it with my last available package i get this info in admin:

The following components are not updated:

    wpml-string-translation
    wpml-translation-management

Your site will not work as it should in this configuration Please update all components which you are using. For WPML components you can receive updates from your WPML.org account or automatically, after you register WPML.

1 Year ago i was in contact with staff and they told me that I can have account only for 1 year and dont have to extend it if i dont want to but they also said to me that there should be no problem with downloading last available package from my account and installing it to new wordpress system, but now it doesn’t look like that, it looks like i have to have paid account that my translations work? Can you please explain that ?

    Thank you,
    Best regards,
    Aljaž.

    • Hello,
I’m sorry but if your WPML subscription has expired you won’t be able to access our plugins (neither old nor new ones). You can still use the version you have installed (or you downloaded). Can you remember where you got that misleading information from? Do you have a link or an email maybe?

For old customers we offer a discount to upgrade to Lifetime. If you log into your WPML you will see that offer. If you don’t remember your password please use this link.

      • Hi,

this is the info that i got before i buy the plugin I will try to find the email, but I would also like to use my last version that was possible for me and I would like to register new sites in account if needed.

        Please take care of that.
        Br, Aljaž.
