Can you tell me more about WPML’s professional translation services? What are the costs? Is it included in any of the plans? What is the process by which I will be connected with them if we purchase WPML?
Hello Kevin,
No, the cost of the translation service is not included in any of our subscription plans. We only provide the interface so that you can send your WordPress posts, pages and other contents to professional translations directly from your WordPress and receive translated posts, pages etc in your WordPress ready to be published. So you would need to check the prices with the service you would like to use. Here’s the list of our partners: https://wpml.org/documentation/content-translation/#partner-translation-services-2
How long does the translation process usually take? I know it’s dependant on the number of words, but for a small-medium sized website, how long does it usually take?
I would like to make my site biligual by adding an English version (right now it is in Hebrew). My main concern is with translating the Home Page logo, which is an image file, as you can see in my home page. http://www.wordsinpsychology.com/
if your theme is compatible with WPML you should be able to translate all your theme custom options, including the logo. Unfortunately, I cannot see your theme in our list of themes compatible with WPML. https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/
So I cannot give you a yes/no answer. You can give it a chance, buy WPML and test it yourself. If it turns out that you cannot achieve what you need, you can use this link and ask for a refund. https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/ You will have 30 days to test WPML. In that probation time you can also ask technical questions in our forum.
we are creating new webshop in Czech and English language, all webshop is based on feeds and WP All Import plugin. The XML feed is in Slovak language and we are looking for solution, how to translate this slovak feed into Czech and English language. Is it possible ?
I am working with a client and will be installing WPML for the first time. I’m trying to get a handle on how much disc space the plugin and translated pages will take. The site (about 60 pages) presently uses 1.3 GB of space on a 2 GB hosting account. I’ve got concerns about room adding WPML and growth. Can you provide me with any insight?
Hello Susan,
the math is not so easy to be done. If you are going to translate each and every pages you have now then basically you need to multiply your numbers by the number of languages you plan to have. But if you are using images, you don’t need to create copies of these images when translating images with WPML. Using WPML Media Translation plugin you just translate the alternative text, captions and image titles so your final numbers won’t be so big. Posts/pages with text don’t take much space.
Hello Sidney,
for testing purposes we recommend buying WPML with keeping our refund policy in mind. It allows you to test WPML for 30 days and in the same time ask technical questions in our support forum. https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
Is it possible to change the language of Woocommerce & Billing detail (first name, Last name, Company name, Country, Subtotal, Shipping words etc) into some local language like Thai by this WPML?
Hello,
if your only goal is to change these strings (and not to run your entire online store in multiple languages) then you don’t need WPML at all. You can translate these strings either by using the Loco Translate plugin or the PoEdit software. Both do the same. The former is a WordPress plugin, the latter is an application you install on your local drive.
But if your goal is to translate your products, you can buy WPML and WPML also has some options to translate these strings.

Hello Kalle,
thank you for your interest in WPML. I’m sorry but I don’t have good news. We no longer support non-profits organizations with free subscriptions. What you can consider doing: here’s a list of our WPML contractors. https://wpml.org/contractors/
If somebody buys WPML from us they are allowed to install WPML on their customers’ site. So you can use the “Do you have a budget for this project? Yes, my budget is up to ___” filter to find a contractor who can set up a WPML-based site for affordable price.
I hope it helps and I’m sorry I didn’t have better news.
I run a website which presents reading material side by side, and so the content remains on the same page. For space reasons, I’d like to create a separate menu for of the two languages. Polylang forces the use of two separate pages/posts, one in each language, which I don’t want. So, would WPML allow me to create a language switcher in the menu, which retaining one canonical version of each post/page?
Hello Neil,
WPML works the same as Polylang when it comes to publishing translated content. And there is a reason behind it. Google (and other search engines) don’t like the “side by side” translations. Let me explain why: when a Googlebot comes to your page to get it indexed, first thing they need to do is to determine the page’s language. If your page is written in two languages, it becomes impossible to determine the page’s language and have your page indexed properly. You can read more about it in Google’s guidelines:
“You can help Google determine the language correctly by using a single language for content and navigation on each page, and by avoiding side-by-side translations.”
I want to create a multilinguale website with WMPL.
The first page a website visitor sees is a map of Europe.
Based on the location they need to pick the country they are currently in.
Each country has different products and services.
Now here is my question:
For example a website visitor is currently in the Netherlands so the visitor chooses Holland on the map. Now the problem is that the visitor doesn’t speak Dutch and changes the language to Spanish on the homepage. But the Spanish contains a lot more products and services than the Dutch one. So the proposition is based on country level and not on language.
How do I fix this that the content is shown based on location even when the language is changed?
Hello Robin,
“How do I fix this that the content is shown based on location even when the language is changed?”
You won’t.
WPML has an option to detect the user language based on the language they have set up in their browser and redirect the user automatically to that version but we don’t recommend using this option and always encourage to include the language switcher so that the user can choose the language by himself/herself.
It helps search engines to index your site properly and prevents situations when somebody uses someone’s else computer (in a different country) and gets redirected to a language he/she doesn’t want to and cannot see his/her languages, even if the site is available in it.
In most cases your site will attract organic traffic to subpages (instead of homepage) anyway, in the language the user was performing his/her search in a search engine (e.g. in Google) so it doesn’t make much sense to put efforts into making the user choose the correct language on homepage.
Thanks for the reply. Still have some questions about the country/product construction.
Can I fix this ‘problem’ by creating new languages wich contains the different products that apply to that country? So for example Belgium has 2 languages. Dutch and French. Dutch also applies to the Netherlands but is different then the one for Belgium. Can I create a new language Dutch for Belgium and applie the products (pages) for this country to fix this problem?
Hello Robin,
yes, you can. Now we are talking about creating multi-regional sites. This is done with languages codes. WPML allows you to add new languages manually. So for example if you want to have a page in French for Canada, you add fr-ca. You can see an example in this image: https://wpml.org/2017/09/multilingual-seo-8-hints-and-tasks-for-you#hint-7
Hello Michele,
with the $29 package you will be able to translate your posts, pages, tags, categories, menu. Basic stuff. If that’s okay for you, then you can buy this package. You can upgrade to the CMS package later for the difference in purchase price later. You will find the link to do so in your WPML account.
I want to buy “Multilingual CMS”, but i need to clarify few things before purchase, i have a wooCommerce website based on “woodmart theme”
I want to keep Single Language (i.e English) on my site, i do not need multi language, but if i need i will do it later & i want to make United States Dollar(USD) as a base currency, but i want to add few more currencies like Euro, Indian Rupee, Saudi Riyal..etc.
-> Will WPML Multilingual work in the scenario as i mentioned above?
Hello,
I am a customer of you since the last 3-4 years. Suddenly I tried to update my plugin I fund that my susbcription has ended??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
WHY???????
Why havent you updated my suscription automatically like every other plugin????
Now you are making me pay for it again???
Why havent you informed at least of the subscription ending???
Very disapppointed with this problem you have caused me.
I have checked the status if your account (I used the email you submitted your comment with) and I found the following:
Multilingual CMS Expired January 8, 2015 (purchased) March 3, 2018 (ended)
Multilingual Blog Inactive February 15, 2017 (purchased) February 16, 2017 (ended) Payment refunded to user
Only the Lifetime subscriptions never expire. You have the “Multilingual CMS” so you need to renew it every year.
Why haven´t you informed me that the subscriptions were expiring? I find this very abusive on your side. The least you guys could do is INFORMING a customer when expiration date is close.
Please, get them back on and let me know the cost of the re-new.
Hello David, we send reminders. If we didn’t send you anything, we need to apologize and we will extend your subscription for a few more days and you will be able to use the discount price. Let us check the records. I will keep you posted.
Hello David,
What is the reason you are sending me your VAT number? In reference to your previous question, we checked your records in our system and we sent you two notifications: the first one was sent 2018-02-09 and the last one: 2018-02-28. Please let me know how can I help you. I’ve got lost a bit.
David, in case you have issues with your VAT number not working I notified our admins and they will validate it manually. If you are trying to renew your subscription or buy again, please try again in a few minutes or in an hour.
I am looking at purchasing and using WPML CMS on a site that is already 1.2 GB with a 2 GB host plan. I wonder if you can tell me the disc space I can expect WPML to use for the plugin?
Hello Susan,
your previous question was waiting for moderation. I’ve replied. I guess 2GB should be enough but please check my previous answer for details.
Hello,
so please log into your old WPML account and update it from your account. If you don’t remember your password, please use this link: https://wpml.org/account/lost-my-password/
For our former customer we also have an option to upgrade to the Lifetime version for $116.
im useing old version of WPML and want to update it and use on my other websites want to know can i extend support and update it and have zip of latest version or i need to rebuy it
Hello,
If you have a WPML account, please log in and you will see a link there to upgrade.
If you don’t remember your password, you can use this link: https://wpml.org/account/lost-my-password/
Hello! Currently I use qTranslatex and would like to purchase WPML to have my site and SEO multilingual. For SEO I use Yoast SEO. What are the steps to follow to delete qTransaltex and install WPML and to make my site working? Thanks!
I usually build websites for my clients using Advanced Custom Fields PRO. I utilize most of its features: options page, repeater fields etc.
I’d like to purchase WPML, but I’m not sure if it’s fully compatible with ACF PRO. I mean: is WMPL all I need to translate the whole website when the website’s content is generated from all of ACF PRO fields (text fields, options page, repeater fields etc.)? Or maybe I will have to buy some add-ons, apart from WPML itself?
Thanks for your reply. I can see the following information about requirements on the second link you gave me:
“A recent version of WPML (version 3.7.1 or above), including the String Translation and Translation Management add-ons.
The Advanced Custom Fields Multilingual (ACFML) plugin. ACFML is a bridge plugin that makes WPML and Advanced Custom Fields plugin compatible.”
Are the add-ons/plugins String Translation, Translation Management and ACFML free or paid?
As I can see now WPML is not all I need in my case, but I’m still not sure if I have to pay for anything else than WPML itself…
I have a website where the master language is English. If I install WPML, I have the following questions:
1. Will the website automatically switch languages based on the user’s location?
2. Can we set-up local domains to default to the local language, e.g. website.hk defaults to Cantonese – how would this work? Would it redirect to website.com/language=hk
3. If one country doesn’t want a page to appear on their version of the site, is this possible? (e.g. on English version there is an About page, but Chinese don’t want an About page?)
4. Same question as above, but If master language is English, is it possible to have pages on the Chinese version that don’t exist in English? e.g. Chinese has About page, but English doesn’t (but master language is English)
5. Can different languages use different page templates?
To answer your questions:
1. No, it won’t. You need to include the language switcher and (optionally) you can enable automatic redirections (WPML can detect the user language that the user has set in his/her browser).
2. You mean, you want multiple domains to point to the same domain? You can do so but not in WPML. In WPML you pick the main language of your site and that will be the main domain.
3. Yes, it is.
4. Yes, also possible.
5. You mean the templates a user can choose in the right sidebar called Page Attributes, under Template? If so, yes, since you create a separate page when you translate a page.
Hello,
WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically but you can add any language to WPML. Here you can check the list of default languages. You can add other language manually, as explained in this tutorial: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/editing-wpmls-languages-table/
I’m using Highend Them (https://hb-themes.com/themes/highend/) and in the Header section settings, there is a possibility to include WPML Languages. I want to know if with your plugin, I will be able to put that language selections on the header.
the Highend Theme is compatible with WPML and you should be able to add your language switch to the header. Let me ask our developers from the COmpatibility Team to check it for you. Probably the have a copy of this theme.
Hello!
I’m very new on building website 🙂
1. Is it possible to use WPML with WordPress.com (Business Plan)?
2. We’re building website in two language (Thai and English). If it is possible if we buy the WPML first, then install plugin with WordPress later, due to we need to prepare the content in Thai and English first?
1. WPML is a WordPress plugin, but in most cases is installed on self-hosted servers. I do know if you can install your own plugins at WordPress.com and if you can, what are the restrictions/limitations (if any). If you can, then yes. You would need to ask this question to WordPress.com folks.
2. Yes, you can install WPML now or later. All options are possible. You can even develop your site in one language and later on add WPML and content in the other language.
Hello, I am freelancer and occasionally design websites. Supposedly I will buy Multilingual CMS Lifetime, then i will build site using wpml for my client, do my client have to buy separate license of wpml?
Does all of my future clients will need to buy their own license of wpml, when I will build site for them even if I will buy Multilingual CMS Lifetime?
Hello Cezary,
you need to buy only one WPML license and you can use WPML for all of your and your customer sites. It applies to all of our subscription plans. In your WPML account you will need to register these sites but only one license is needed.
Hello,
WPML is integrated with several professional translation services, which means that you can send your WordPress posts and pages (an other content) directly from your WordPress. You will need to install the WPML Translation Management plugin (included in the CMS or/and Lifetime packages). Here the list of the translation services we are integrated with: https://wpml.org/translation-service/

Hello Kevin,
Like you say, it depends on the number of words, as well as other things, like language pair, complexity, etc. You are welcome to contact my colleagues at hello@icanlocalize.com and they will be happy to give you an estimate. You can also contact other of our integrated translation services for this https://wpml.org/documentation/content-translation/#partner-translation-services

Hello,
I would like to make my site biligual by adding an English version (right now it is in Hebrew). My main concern is with translating the Home Page logo, which is an image file, as you can see in my home page.

Thanks a lot,

for testing purposes we recommend buying WPML with keeping our refund policy in mind. It allows you to test WPML for 30 days and in the same time ask technical questions in our support forum. https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
I forgot to add. We also have a Polylang to WPML migration plugin.
Is it possible to change the language of Woocommerce & Billing detail (first name, Last name, Company name, Country, Subtotal, Shipping words etc) into some local language like Thai by this WPML?
And also font. (The example image attached)

Hi,
I am running a web shop from Sweden and we are looking to sell abroad.
I wonder if it is possible to hide articles on selected markets with this plugin?
We want to sell our complete assortment in our local market but a selected assortment in other countries.
Is it correct that you can have different pricing in different countries?
Hello Therese,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
Yes, you can. You simple don’t translate these.
If you are asking about running a WooCommerce-based store, then yes, using the WPML Multilingual plugin and WPML you can also set up different pricing in different countries. Hello,
if you don’t need a multilingual store, then I’m not sure if installing WPML makes sense. What you are trying to do is possible with WPML but it would be a kind of overkill. I would look around to find a dedicated plugin only for that purpose. If you don’t find any, then you can install WPML: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/multi-currency-support-woocommerce/

Why haven´t you informed me that the subscriptions were expiring? I find this very abusive on your side. The least you guys could do is INFORMING a customer when expiration date is close.
Please, get them back on and let me know the cost of the re-new.
David.
Hello David, we send reminders. If we didn’t send you anything, we need to apologize and we will extend your subscription for a few more days and you will be able to use the discount price. Let us check the records. I will keep you posted.

Hello! Currently I use qTranslatex and would like to purchase WPML to have my site and SEO multilingual. For SEO I use Yoast SEO. What are the steps to follow to delete qTransaltex and install WPML and to make my site working? Thanks!
Please use this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/qtranslate-to-wpml-export/
and follow the documentation:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/qtranslate-importer/
Hello,
I usually build websites for my clients using Advanced Custom Fields PRO.
Best regards,
Paweł
Hello Paweł,
we are compatible with ACF but there are some known issues with ACF Pro, please check here:
https://wpml.org/plugin/advanced-custom-fields/
This page explains how you use WPML with ACF
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/
Best regards,
Paweł
Hey Paweł,
you will find all these plugins in the CMS ($79) or Lifetime ($195) subscription.
I’m going to purchase Lifetime subscription so this is the best answer to my question 🙂 Thank you very much!
Thank you 🙂
Hi there,
I have a website where the master language is English.
Thanks in advance
Hi Paul,
thanks for your interest in WPML.
If so, yes, since you create a separate page when you translate a page.
i want to use Georgian language is it possible with WPML?
Hello,
WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically but you can add any language to WPML. Here you can check the list of default languages. You can add other language manually, as explained in this tutorial: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/editing-wpmls-languages-table/
Hello!
I’m using Highend Them (https://hb-themes.com/themes/highend/) and in the Header section settings, there is a possibility to include WPML Languages. I want to know if with your plugin, I will be able to put that language selections on the header.
Thanks and best regards,
Jun Pasion
Hello,
the Highend Theme is compatible with WPML and you should be able to add your language switch to the header.
Thank you for your helps
Hello Emma,
Hello!
I would like to put a drop down menu right in the position of the button “RUSSIAN” in the header of my website (https://redachem.com/)
Is it possible using WPML?
Thanks,
Jun
Hello,
yes, it seems possible but let me double check with our developers from the Compatibility Team. They should have a copy of this theme.
It’s possible, please see this example: http://highend.compatibility.wpml.org/
Hello, I am freelancer and occasionally design websites. Supposedly I will buy Multilingual CMS Lifetime, then i will build site using wpml for my client, do my client have to buy separate license of wpml?
Does all of my future clients will need to buy their own license of wpml, when I will build site for them even if I will buy Multilingual CMS Lifetime?
Hello Cezary,
you need to buy only one WPML license and you can use WPML for all of your and your customer sites. It applies to all of our subscription plans. In your WPML account you will need to register these sites but only one license is needed.
Hi, I would like to create a multilingual site with WPML, but I need to have the translations made by the interpreters.
How can we learn the prices by the translators before buying the plug-in?
Thank you
Hello,
WPML is integrated with several professional translation services, which means that you can send your WordPress posts and pages (an other content) directly from your WordPress. You will need to install the WPML Translation Management plugin (included in the CMS or/and Lifetime packages). Here the list of the translation services we are integrated with: https://wpml.org/translation-service/
or you can also check this page:
https://wpml.org/documentation/content-translation/#partner-translation-services-2
You would need to pick a few services that might interest you and contact them to ask about the prices.
Here’s an example:
https://gengo.com/pricing-languages/
and one more:
https://www.textmaster.com/translation-web-content-pricing/
and also ICanLocalize service (which is a part of our company)
