Hi
Just wanted to make sure.
I would like to buy the CMS version, And I wanted to understand the following issues:
1. When I buy this plugin, can I use it without any website limit and without any time limit? (is this purchase without a time limit)
2. The only time limit (1 year) is for the support and upgrades?
1. You can use WPML on as many sites as you need. Obviously, we ask that you use it yourself and not pass it on to others.
2. Correct. With your purchase you get 1 year of upgrades and support. Whatever you download can be used without any time limit and will continue working after your support and upgrades subscription ends. You’re welcome to renew your support and upgrades subscription next year for 50% of the original purchase price.
Hi,
I asked this before but did not get a response: does your plugin work with the online booking calendar? I’m working on a new site and I would like to use your plugin but it needs to work with Online booking calendar!
I’m not familiar with this theme. We’re using WPML ourselves with Genesis and it’s working fine for us. I can’t say that we’re big Genesis users. There might be some features that are not working smoothly with WPML, but what we’re using ourselves works smooth.
If I understand correctly, your software AUTOMATICALLY translates the text into one or more foreign languages. Machine translation in 2012 is a complete joke.
I DO NOT want an automatic translation: I want to insert MY OWN English and French text into my site.
Could you please tell me if your product (and if so, would it be the $ 29 version??? or the $ 79 version???) would allow me to insert MY OWN translation?
When planning a bilingual site, is it important for the site to be bilingual FROM THE VERY OUTSET, or can you have a mono-lingual site with lots of content and, say, several months later, add the same content in the other language?
If you plan right, it shouldn’t be any problem turning your single-language site into multilingual. The important thing is to keep the theme multilingual-friendly, by using only WordPress API calls. As long as you don’t use hacks, it will be very simple to add languages to the site later.
My company would like to purchase this plugin, but we have some questions first:
1. Is custom module assignment possible? The situation: we have an explanation video in the widget bar, but have a Dutch and English one. Obviously we want the right language to show up when the right language is accepted…
2. I see some people asking for theme compatibility, I assume it is compatible with all themes? (We use light-base wordpress theme)
3. If for some reason the plugin doesn’t work in our specific situation, what’s the money-back protocol?
1. I’m not sure what you mean by custom modules. If you’re displaying videos, you have a pointer to them from either the post body or a custom field. Both are translated with WPML, so you’ll be able to show the correct video for each language.
2. Most themes work fine with WPML. Of course, it’s possible to do things which will cause problems, but normally this isn’t the case. If your theme uses WordPress API and doesn’t perform DB hacks, it should work fine with WPML.
Hi, we just paid for the widget but I don’t know where to download it. There is the “buy and download” button but it will re-enter the purchase phase I just finished. Please help.
Hi, I was wondering if I buy the blog version – although I’m building a website – if I can still use that assuming that I’ll worry about the whole translation? Also, do you need a multisite installation or can you do without? Finally, the site I’m building is a for non-profit local organisation. Is there a possibility to have a discounted/free plugin in case we decide to go for the CMS version? Apologies for being a bit cheeky, had to ask. Thanks in advance,
Laura
It depends what you want to do. The bigger challenge will probably be to manage without WPML’s String Translation. You can do all these things in PHP, but with a lot more effort.
To run WooCommerce in a different language. You don’t need WPML. You should get the .po files with translations and change the WPLANG variable in your wp-config.php file.
I just thought maybe it would make translation easier if I used WPML. As i understand it is a lot of hassle to translate .po files, any tool/plugin you recommend for it?
Im used to translating Joomla compontents by simply editing .php lang files.
WPML can make each of the blogs in the network, including the main blog multilingual.
When you switch to a different blog, it can have different languages, but I’m not sure what you want it to do exactly. Can you explain how you expect it to work together?
Is the plugin compatible with the Switchblade theme on Theme Forest. They have a Content Composer Framework which organises content on pages differently. I tried using qTranslate which works well with default pages and posts but does not translate content input using the content composer. WPML look great though and I would like to purchase it if you can confirm this? Here is a link to the theme:
Hi
I am very interested in your software , need your advice before I make a purchase
my project:
E-Book
Website
is your software suitable to translate E-book and Website without switching , I mean permanent setting to 6 languages to help non English Customers read the front page in their native language ,also read the book without any Copy/Paste ?
I’m not exactly sure how you produce the e-book. If it’s just WordPress pages, or custom post types, it should work fine with WPML.
WPML will create new posts for translation, keeping each language separate, but linked together to other translations, so that your visitors can switch between languages.
One question: Is there a fallback for custom post types, too? I will have a post type, that will be published only in english. Will users with other languages see these posts, too?
You can use WPML’s Translation Management module, which now includes ‘content duplication’. This allows to have the same content for different languages. It also supports custom post types.
Good morning,
when translating a page to a different language then this page is accessed together with the “/?lang=xx” parameter where xx is the new language. Is it possible to access a certain page without the parameter and store the language parameter in another way, like a cookie or a JavaScript-Variable?
WPML uses URLs to include language information. This makes it friendly with caching plugins, good for SEO and avoids a host of other problems. Currently, we don’t have a way to store language information in cookies.
The problem I have is the following:
There is a 3rd party PHP project which is wrapped to a single WP page by a plugin. All part of the PHP project will be displayed on a single WP page. If I use WPML to translate the link for this page then the parameter is added and instead of the PHP project all I get is a blank screen. Is there another way to solve this problem?
If I buy it, I have multisite licence. So if I’m making a website for a client. Can I use my plugin on his website without giving him the licence key in any way? Or do I have to buy a separate version for him?
You can use WPML on a client site. The upgrade requires a key and it’s read-only, so you can enter it, but the client cannot copy and use on other sites.
It really depends how the theme was created. If it uses WordPress custom post types and the WordPress API to display the portfolio, it should run just fine with WPML.
Hi,
I work to University of Bolzano. I used an old version of WPML for free (1.7.x).
Today I updated to 2.0.4 and now the plugin doesn’t activate anymore.
It says “fatal error”.
I’m sorry, but we can’t give support for very old WPML versions. We’ve fixed hundreds of bugs since that time and it’s impossible for us to do this debug work for you, on these older versions.
I understand, bt I actually don’t need to reinstall the old version, I’m considering to buy the new one and install it. My question was: does the new version I (tried) to update to cause an error because it must be licensed or could it be something else?
If I buy the new version and install it, could you give me support if the error doesn’t get solved ? When I buy do I download the plug in AND the license?
Currently, in WPML, we don’t allow keeping ‘known problems’. Whenever there’s a bug, we spend as much time as needed and we fix it. We have a QA team, developers and support people who’s job is to produce clean releases.
And, if you buy WPML and you’re not happy, for whatever reason, you can always get a full refund.
hi
i would like to ask about WPML can i make like your website 2 languages
1- ltl http://wpml.org/
2- rtl http://wpml.org/he/
in ONE wordpress and one database
it will be left to right ( English website )
and right to left ( Arabic website)
do have tutorial for that because I am beginner in wordpress?
Yes, you can. To display RTL and LTR version of the theme, you’ll need to have some different CSS for Hebrew. Have a look here for a description of what we did for wpml.org in Hebrew: http://wpml.org/2011/12/adding-rtl-support-for-theme/
Hi, I need to have a bilingual wordpress site. I don’t need translation, i only need that when selected language is italian the website shows italian menu, and when selected language is english it shows english menu, is it possible?
I’m not quite sure what you mean by ‘translate only the menus’. In WordPress, normally, menu entries correspond to pages or categories. If you’re not translating any content, what would the localized menus link to?
Yes, teh same content of italian version is also in english, but i don’t want a menu with both content, i want the menu showing only the content of the selected language. For example
who we are – where we are – products
for english and
chi siamo – dove siamo – prodotti
for italian
and the pages will have only the content of selected language (not both languages contents)
I don’t need automatic translations, i still have, I only have to fill contents of both languages in every page (and also menu will have to be in both languages, as said)
So: will I have this result?
is it compatible with themefores PEACE OF LIGHT theme?

Is it compatibile with StudioPress Midnight Theme?

Hello Amir,
The Midnight theme is a Child Theme under the Genesis Framework.
I am a bit worried about the Featured Slider: http://cl.ly/3m3L0Q182F0m2p1t0Y16 which pulls specific Blog Posts.
Should I be worried?
Hello,
Your software sounds good, but I’d love to read some independent third-party reviews before I buy/install it: can you suggest any?
Thank you.
There are quite a few reviews of WPML. If you use Google blogsearch and enter WPML, you’ll see it on numerous blogs.

WPML doesn’t support machine translation. Hardly anyone ever requests it and we’re not planning to add this feature.
Have a look here for different ways for you to manage translations:

The Translation Management package, which allows translator roles is part of the $79 Multilingual CMS package.
Thank you, Amir.

Hello,
I would like to test it before buy.
Could we have an evaluation ?
Antoine
Sorry, but there’s no evaluation version of WPML. If you buy it and you’re not happy, for whatever reason, you can always get your money back.
Hey, do you provide invoice for purchased plugin? We really need it.
Yes. You will receive a printable tax invoice. After your purchase, you can edit the ‘payer’ details and include your business information.
Is SEO friendly? I am a web designer and seo from Cyprus and I was wondering if is seo friendly anmd easy to work with!
WPML works fine with WordPress SEO best practices. If you’re looking for a compatible SEO plugin, I recommend this:

Maybe custom isn’t the best word, I’m used to joomla so terminology tends to get scrambled…
If the video displays right then this plugin is perfect for us and I will now proceed to buying it 🙂
What about question 3?
We offer simple no-questions-asked refunds. If you’re not happy with WPML, for any reason, just tell us and we refund your payment.
ordered and configuring now 🙂
Hi, we just paid for the widget but I don’t know where to download it. There is the “buy and download” button but it will re-enter the purchase phase I just finished. Please help.
Please use our contact form, provide your full name and anything that you received from PayPal and we’ll check what’s going on with your account.

It depends what you want to do. The bigger challenge will probably be to manage without WPML’s String Translation. You can do all these things in PHP, but with a lot more effort.
This page explains what’s included in WPML’s different packages:

In any case, if you buy the Blog version, you can upgrade to the CMS version too.
1.
I want to translate the WooCommerce plugin to my own language, can I do that with WPML?
2.
I dont want my site in multilanguage, only change to my own language, is that possible?
3.
Is it as simple as translating and then setting my own language as default and no language switcher?
Thanks
You can run multilingual sites with WPML and WooCommerce. Have a look here for the complete guide:
http://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/
To run WooCommerce in a different language. You don’t need WPML. You should get the .po files with translations and change the WPLANG variable in your wp-config.php file.
Thanks for your quick reply!

Hi there,
we are working on a multisite project and have one question :
The main site will have 4 languages : EN + FR + RO + PO
We want to dinamically get content from other sites (with switch_to_blog()) of the network and display it on the main site.
Is WPML able to translate this kind of dynamic content in each language ?
if yes, Could you give some details on how it works ?
Not sure we can handle this with WPML . Would be nice to get your input.
Thanks
WPML can make each of the blogs in the network, including the main blog multilingual.

I’m not sure. We haven’t tested WPML with this theme. If the theme developer is interested in maintaining compatibility with WPML, we’ll be happy to work together on this. You can refer him here:
http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/
Anyway, if you buy WPML and have any sort of trouble, you can always get a full refund.
Hi,
Is the Xliff module included on the Multilingual version?
Thanks!
Yup. WPML’x XLIFF module is part of the multilingual CMS package.

WPML can certainly handle all domains from a single WordPress install. If you need technical help setting it up, please have a look here:
