Id like to ask if the basic plugin for $28 will create a tab with flags on my website.. So for example when somebody visit my swedish site and would like to translate it to english, he would just simple hit the english flag and it would automatically translate.
Yes, the basic WPML version ($29) lets you display a language switcher. The main difference for you would probably be the String Translation module, which is not included in the basic version. That module lets you translate texts that don’t belong to any page.
about the String Translation module, could I purchase the basic version and then just plug in that module without upgrading to the complete cms version?
Sorry, but the individual modules are not offered one by one. You can upgrade to the CMS package and pay the difference between the Blog and CMS packages, but we don’t have finer granularity in WPML’s packages.
Considering buying wpml. Does the language sequence installation matter? Could i start with a dutch wp installation and then later on install wpml? Or should i start with an english wp installation and then via wpml add the dutch language?
You can start with the Dutch WordPress and then add WPML. The Dutch WordPress is the same as the English WordPress, with the major difference that it already includes the Dutch .mo files for WordPress itself. WPML can automatically download these .mo files for you, so there is little difference in the results.
Please note that if Dutch is going to be your default language and you want to also offer English to visitors, you will need to enter the tagline and other strings in English and then translate to Dutch. Have a look at the following FAQ that explains it: http://wpml.org/faq/string-translation-default-language-not-english/
Hi,
I’m working on bought template from Template Monster, which has flash file in header (home page only) – http://www.templatemonster.com/wordpress-themes/34953.html. I need to have my page translated, I was wondering can WMPL support translateing mentioned flash file? if not, I’ll have to have 5 installation of wordpress I presume..
Thanks in advance,
Ana
Hello,
i use a theme from groupbuyingsite (social). I couldn’t find it in the list with compatible themes.
I need my site translated asap.
before buying it i would like to know if it’s compatible.
also does the plugin include greek?
thanks
You can use Greek with WPML for sure. Just keep to the default UTF-8 charset which WordPress defines and everything should work fine (for Greek).
We haven’t tested WPML with that theme, so I can’t tell for sure. I recommend getting the theme author to test the theme together with us. You can refer the authors of the theme to our Go Global program: http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/
We will work together with the theme author, test for complete compatibility and iron out any issues that we might find on the way.
I am preparing to rebuild my web-site with WordPress. I am already buying some plugins etc., but for sure would need your WMPL since I have bi-lingual sites.
An important question: Is the following plugin compatible with WMPL – or easy to make it run in German language (original, as mostly is English):
Many people run English / German sites with WPML. WPML itself is also fully translated to WPML, in case you want to set German as your WordPress admin language.
We haven’t tested WPML with the InstaMember plugin, but we would be very happy to do so. Would you like to ask the membership authors if they have a little time? If so, they are invited to our Go Global program, where we work on compatibility with themes and plugins: http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/
Sorry, but we haven’t tested WPML with that theme. Our developers would be very happy to test together with the theme author. Would you like to check if the theme author is also interested? If so, they should join our Go Global program: http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/
WPML doesn’t actually translate the content for you. It’s a tool that lets you translate your content and run multilingual sites. You should set the character set to UTF-8. This will allow you to write using any characters.
I like your plugin (type) so much!
but i can’t put youtube code by using this plugin and tried googling many hours still false !
would you please help me. Here is the code i want to use in wordpress:

WPML doesn’t translate the categories description (still on our list for adding). But there are ways you can accomplish that with a little coding. (e.g. wrap the calls to displaying the categories translations into gettext calls and using the String Translation module to translate them.
I have a personal blog that I write myself in Spanish (my native language), but I want to explore the possibilities to make it a billingual (Spanish and English) Blog.
Can I use your software for this and is possible to work with it off line (without publishing anything) until I am certain that it will work?
Thanks

You can install WPML on your local site and develop everything there before you go live. When you buy WPML, you can run it on as many sites as you want, so you can certainly develop offline and go live when you are ready.
and if you see my page amazingmarbella.com you will see the menu – Villas, Super Villas, Apartments & Music these menus is post categories and carry descriptions from Post category will these description be show in the different language when i have translated them. ?
Hello,
I am trying to reset my password to log in, but this doesn’t seem to work.
Could you please help?
My login is DanielleK, I have already requested a reset password link, but this doesn’t work.
Thanks
This looks like a great real estate theme. We haven’t tested it with WPML, but we would be glad to do so. Would you like to ask the theme authors if they are interested as well?
We just started to work on a website project where we need to build a website in Spanish, English and Portugueese and we’ll be using WPML for this. Though, the main language visitors will use is Spanish so the question is:
Can we congifure wordpress tu run in Spanish as the default languaue with the es_ES language file and configuration and then create the English and Portugueese versions with WPML?
Or will it be better to run the default language in English and create the Spanish and Portuguesse versions with WPML?
Just want to set it up correctly since the beggining.
I just want to make sure I understand your ‘translation’ feature. I have an woo-commerce website with about 2000 products and need all the descriptions/titles translated into;
Korean, Chinese, Japanese, European languages etc.
Can this pluggin ‘batch translate’ all 2000 of my products at once? Or does each product page have to be individually translated? Same question for blog/post pages as well.
Also how do the translations compare with Google translate?
WPML doesn’t translate your content. It’s a tool that lets you translate the site’s content yourself, or using translation services. You can batch-send the products data to translation using WPML, but it doesn’t translate for you.
Hi. Maybe I missed it but is there an option that users have a main language but can choose that they also want to see language x or y as they speak two or more languages? Or how can I make this happen?
WPML lets you add languages to your site. Then, your visitors can choose what language they want to read your content in. Is this what you wanted to know or something else?
Hi. I will use BuddyPress and eagerly await the new version of your BP plugin. Is it right that the the forum and groups also get multi language support? When users select English as language will they see also forums in other languages or can choose which languages to see? Can the user select more than one language at a time when he is searching for content? Maybe I missed the point how the bbPress and BuddyPress integration works 🙂
We are going to release an update for BuddyPress Multilingual, which includes support for the recent BuddyPress version. This should happen next week. The main functionality of our glue plugin for BuddyPress is that it maintains the visitor’s language as you browse BuddyPress elements. This means that when visitors select a language and go to different BuddyPress pages, the language information is added to the URL.
WPML filters the WordPress search and returns only results in the current language. This is the desired functionality for most sites. You can bypass this by adding an argument ?lang=all to the search box’s HTML. This will tell WPML not to filter the search results by language.
Can I adjust the filter to ?lang=en+de or similar to filter for more than one language at a time? I would like to offer the possibility to search for more than one language as most of my customers can speak more than one language and some content is only available in certain languages. But blog posts should be only displayed in their main language or with multiple flags or so (if available in more than one language). Or displayed in one of the other chosen languages if the blog post is only available in these other languages…
I am working on a more technical discussion site where specialist can discuss topics or rate products and so on but also want to offer the site in more than English as not all of these specialist can write good English and write their article or so in their own language but can read articles from others in English…
Sorry, but that’s not supported. You can have ?lang=de or ?lang=en or ?lang=all – for all languages. So, a practical search option would be:
( ) Search on CURRENT_LANGUAGE only
( ) Search for posts in any language
The first option would not require adding any ?lang argument and the second option would require adding ?lang=all.
Your other suggestion makes sense, but it’s not implemented at the moment and I can’t promise when and if we can add something like that. We have a number of other planed features for the next upcoming releases.
Sorry, but I don’t think that we’ve tested WPML with any of these themes. We have a very active theme-compatibility program, which is open to all theme authors. We especially welcome authors from ThemeForest. Would you like to ask if any of the authors of these themes is interested in testing with us? If so, they should visit our Go Global program and join: http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/
Just for clarification, WPML doesn’t translate your content. It’s a tool that lets you run a WordPress site in multiple languages and let you translate the content. You can create and edit any translation.
Hi, I am about to buy this plugin but I have few question to ask. Can you please give some advise?
1. The country I serve in Malaysia has more than 3 languages. I had seen that you are supporting Chinese and English. Do you support Malay as well?
2. Is the flag can be taken off instead of using words like English, Malay, Chinese?
3. At this page http://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/ ,it mentioned that we can manage the inventory and do tracking shipment, can you explain the steps or how actually can i manage the inventory and tracking the shipment?
4. Do you support on the report as well? For example like sales report which have the buyer info and product they buy.
Right now WPML doesn’t include Malai language, but we are adding it to the upcoming release (next week). This will make it easier to run sites with Malai, without the need for you to manually add the language to WPML.
I guess that you are referring to compatibility with WooCommerce. WooCommerce does all this and WPML lets you run WooCommerce sites in different languages.
WooCommerce does all the reporting for you. If you run a multilingual site with WooCommerce and WPML, you will get reports per product, so you can see from what language you got the different sales.
I wanted to use your plugin for an Urdu Language website (wordpress) of my own. Urdu is an RTL. I wanted to buy your plugin if it can help me publish Urdu online.
So my question is:
Shall I proceed with the purchase?
There should not be any problem. The RTL support needs to go to your theme. WPML will set the locale correctly and the theme should load the correct CSS file, with RTL design. It’s best for you to pick a theme that already has correct RTL styling. If it doesn’t you can see tips from how we added RTL support to our own site: http://wpml.org/2011/12/adding-rtl-support-for-theme/
do you have a demo version?
I need to test it on Minblr theme (from Themify) with All-In-One-Calendar plugin and I’m not sure if I need the Blog or CMS version, as the website is still in a beta phase.
Sorry, but we don’t have demo versions of WPML. We’ve worked with Themify and I think that all their themes are compatible with WPML. I’m not so familiar with the All-in-One Calendar plugin.
You can buy WPML and see. If there is any issue at all, you can tell us and we’ll refund your order. We have a very simple refunds policy which says that if you’re not happy with WPML, for any reason, you get your money back.
You will probably need the CMS version to translate everything in Themify themes.
The Blog version might be OK for you. The main difference is that you will not get the ‘String Translation’ module, which is only included in the CMS version. That module is required for translating texts that don’t belong to any post. For example, the tagline and widget titles.
If you buy the Blog version now and you discover that you need the CMS version later, you can always upgrade and pay only the difference in cost.
Hi!
I have two domains with different TLD. I need to connect two languages one by one into these domains. English -> .com, Greek ->.gr . Is it possible? Because i try with multisite network but is complicates for my authors etc.
Hi again!
i bought the plug in. It works perfect! The only bug is, i have this theme – themes.goodlayers.com/?theme=worldwide – coflict the java with slider in second language and no works the dropdown menu. It’s the classic prob with java. If you know what can i do or if works the {noconflict}.
And last i parked my 2nd domain, no change anything in CNAME and works normaly. Is this ok? for SEO etc. My host is hostgator i have cpanel and resseler account.
thank you very much.
best regards

Yes. You can set the default language to be any language you choose and add more languages to the site with WPML.
There is one issue that you should notice, regarding string translation with default language other than English:
http://wpml.org/faq/string-translation-default-language-not-english/
It’s not a problem and not give you any hard time. You just need to be aware of how it works and use correctly.

Does this help?
It kindly helps. Thanks for your info. I’ll get back you if i have any question again.
Thank you
I wanted to use your plugin for an Urdu Language website (wordpress) of my own.
If it doesn’t you can see tips from how we added RTL support to our own site:

Hello,
do you have a demo version?
I need to test it on Minblr theme (from Themify) with All-In-One-Calendar plugin and I’m not sure if I need the Blog or CMS version, as the website is still in a beta phase.
Thank you 🙂
Sorry, but we don’t have demo versions of WPML.
Does this help?
Hello Amir, I did read your refund policy, thank you.
I did not understand very well what exactly is not translated with the Blog version vs CMS one. Do you have any exemple to show me?
Hi,
I have a simple website with a WP blog and a few pages. I already do my own translation to Spanish of my posts.
I am merely interested in separating the English & Spanish sections of the website, basically translating the static pages.
Would the Blog version of WPML be sufficient for that purpose?
Thank you.
Yes. WPML lets you do just that, using languages in different domains. Have a look at this FAQ for how to do it:

Hi again!
i bought the plug in.
