Hi, I was using Yoast SEO plugin before, but now I don't, I use RankMath instead of it. Yoast is deactivated but yoast fields still present in ATE, how to ret rid of them?

Addition: I deleted Yoast seo from the website, and also deleted all it's tables from the database before creating a ticket.

Hello,

that means that when removing the Yoast SEO plugin, not all data was removed from it.

You will need to follow the Yoast guide and remove all data that is left in your database as described here:

If you still need help with removal, you can try contacting Yoast SEO support for further help.

Nope, I did exactly what is written there before writing a ticket. I don't have Yoast tables in DB anymore Also all Yoast files are deleted.

I think the problem is with ATE. It has cached Yoast data somehow. I already pushed "Reset WPML cache" and "Sync with ATE" buttons in troubleshooting, but nothing works.

Please assist.

Here is the evidence. /plugins folder does not contain wordpress-seo folder.
Database does not contain any yoast tables.

So, all is 100% clear. How do I get rid of yoast strings in ATE?

All the troubleshooting buttons pushed again. Checked after that, still yoast fields in the ATE.

I also tried to make a small change on the page and update the translation, this doesn't help either.

I also checked page source code, there are not Yoast mentions at all.
Any updates?

Hi,

Thank you for the information and the screenshots provided.

Sometimes even after removing the plugin and yoast database tables some data still remains in the *_postmeta database table.

Could you please follow the below steps in deleting any possible Yoast fields from the database in the *_postmeta table?

❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌

1. Select the *_postmeta database table using phpMyAdmin or some plugin.
2. Click on the “search” button.
3. Enter the “_yoast_wpseo_title” in the “meta_key” field and the "operator" should be Like % … % and press the submit button as you can see in the attached screenshot.
4. Delete all fields.
5. Please follow the same steps for all other fields one by one.

If after deleting those fields from the database the Yoast fields are still showing, please follow the below steps:

1. Open a post/page in the default language in Edit
2. Make a small change, ex: add a space or + sign in your page/post title.
3. Update the page
4. Now, remove the change you did in step #2.
5. Update the page again.
6. Now, please try to open the translated page in WPML Translation Editor and see if the Yoast fields are still there or not.

Please read more on this ticket https://wpml.org/forums/topic/delete-used-fields/

Please let me know if this resolves your issue.

Regards,
Marsel

That worked, thank you!
Is there a way to automatically resend all the translated pages to ATE without "making a small change" method. I have around 20 pages with these yoast fields, it will be inconvenient no make small changes in all of them.

Hi,

You'll need to pages/posts in default language first (the method "make a small change" triggers the update of the post/page on the default language) which after updates on the translations.

I would suggest you test if it works just by updating a page/post without making any changes to it, if it does then you can try:

1) select all the posts/pages you need to update on posts/pages list page
2) on "Bulk actions" select "Edit"
3) click "Apply"
4) then click "Update"

This should trigger update for all the pages.

Note: IF this does not work then WPML recognizes that there is no actual change being made to the original posts/pages, and so the translations are not updated in ATE.

Let me know if this works out.
Marsel
