Hi,

It seems that by default, WPML will use non-English character URLs for non-English pages. Will it improve SEO? As I notice that many company website still choose to use English characters in their URLs, such as hidden link and hidden link.

And how can I disable the non-English character URL and just use the original post with a language slug. For example.

hidden link for English

and

hidden link for Chinese

Hello,

thanks for contacting us.

As per the Google support forum, non-English URLs will have the same effect as having them in English, but since I am not an SEO expert I suggest checking this with a professional.

You can have Engish URLs in another language if enable encode URLs option for that language from WPML > Languages > Edit language. Image attached.

Then enable to copy page slug from the original language from WPML → Settings - Translated documents options.

You will need to re-translate the page for this to take effect.

Let us know how it goes and if doubts.

Regards,
Drazen

Why I cannot find "Translated Document Options" in Settings? Is is because I am using a Multilingual Blog version?

Hi,

Yes, because e.g. "Document status" would be available only if you can receive translation from translation services and this doesn't work in the Blog version because there is no such option.
