Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a page using WPML. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link. I expected to complete the translation task in the translation editor.

Symptoms:
I cannot proceed with the translation task in the Translations queue after clicking the Translate button. The page loads and then returns to the translation queue.

Questions:
Why can't I proceed with the translation task after clicking the Translate button?
What causes the page to load and return to the translation queue without completing the task?

Hi,

To better understand the issue, could you please confirm the following:

1. Does this problem occur only with the page at hidden link, or are other pages also affected when you try to open them in the Translation Editor?

2. Have you already set up the translator role and added the correct language pairs for the user according to this guide?
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-admin-capabilities/#add-translator

These details will help narrow down the cause.

Best regards,
Bruno Kos

I tried other page like this one: hidden link to add French version, it took me to the WP editor straightly, not translation editor. This seems occurs after I upgraded the plugins and WP to 6.8.1

For #2, I am assigned to be the translator of English to Danish and French. Now I know why when I added French version from Danish version, I was sent to the WP editor. Then I tried the same page from English to French, and I was sent to the Translation enqueue and I never can get access to the Translation editor.

Would you be willing to provide me with WordPress credentials so I could investigate the issue directly?

It looks like that WPML translation editor is indeed disabled, so someone who manages the site did this:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/#how-to-use-manual-translation

But you can activate it back - see my screenshots.

However, whenever I clicked the the wheel icon or the plus icon, it always deliver me to the Translation Enqueue, then I tried to click translate button there, the page just loaded then nothing happen. It does not deliver me to the translation editor to do the translation job.

Did you activate translation editor already? Can you do it for the whole site? Perhaps the issue in the Translations is that editor was disabled for all the site content after these translation jobs were created, so WPML is unable to open it here now.

Let me know once the translation editor is activated site-wide so I could check the above issue.

Hello,

Yes, I believe the Advanced Translation Editor is activated. Please see the screenshot #1. And when I click Translate button in the Translation queue section, It turns out to be somehting like in screenshot #2. And when I refresh the page, then it goes back to the Translations queue section. But I cannot access to the translation editior at all.

I've selected a few of the pages from your screenshot (see my screenshots) and created new translation jobs as shown here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/#choose-what-to-translate

These pages now seem to open correctly.
Could you let me know which of the other pages are still showing the issue for your site administrators?

Also, could you try the same steps I followed and see if the problem persists?

Hi,

I follow your steps and the steps from https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/#choose-what-to-translate, do the same page for translation in incognito tab. But yet, the problem persist.

Could you try more pages? I dont get it why the problem occurs on my side.

Which page did you try when this occurred? Can you try with my user?
