This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are unsure about the functionality of the Duplicate options in WPML's Media Translation.
Solution:
The 'Duplicate' option in WPML means that WPML will create a separate database entry for each image in each language. This results in one entry inside the media library for the media in each language, while using the same source file across all languages. For more detailed information on how to manage media translations, we recommend checking the WPML Media Translation documentation.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, please open a new support ticket. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. For further assistance, you can always contact us through the WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
Translate the image texts within ATE

Symptoms:
Missing image texts within ATE

Questions:
How to fix it (without screwing up other things)?

If I enable "Translate media library texts with posts", then I see the image texts for translation, but it duplicates all the images in the WordPress Media Library for whatever reason. I do not want that.

See the snapshot below. I could not find comprehensive user manual for any of the media section of WPML.

I want to translate the image texts, but I do not need any duplications, in either language.

I was told to disable "Translate Media Library Texts With Posts" to avoid seeing duplicated French image texts that expected me to translate from French to French. But, when disabled, I am not allowed to translate the image texts from within ATE.

If I set it up the way portrayed in this next snapshot, it seems to be working good. Let's hope it stays that way though and doesn't create anymore problems down the road.

In my last message, I mentioned that everything is working fine now.

I just wish I had more information on Media Translation options. We are expected to figure out how WPML works.

I have no idea what the Duplicate options do.

Duplicate means here that WPML will create one database entry for each image in each language.

Paractically it will lead to one entry inside the media library for the media in each language, while using the same source file in all languages.
