This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
You are experiencing issues translating old posts on your site using WPML. Some translated areas are coming up empty, and you have used different methods for translating posts in the past, including the old version of WPML and Visual Composer.
Solution:
We recommend checking if the posts were translated using different editors (Classic Translation Editor, Advanced Translation Editor, or WordPress Editor). For posts translated with the Classic Translation Editor, you should continue using it for any updates or retranslations.
If you want to use the Advanced Translation Editor for new translations, ensure to deselect the option 'Use also for old translations created with the classic editor' in WPML>>Settings>>Translation Editor and save the changes after a mandatory site backup. This approach helps avoid conflicts between different translation methods and your old translations will be safe.
If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend opening a new support ticket. Please check related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verify the version of the permanent fix, and confirm that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins.
