This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are using WPML on your site and want to ensure that selected pages or posts are not indexed by Google after their translation is completed. However, you are unable to find a built-in feature in WPML that automatically sets pages or posts to noindex after translation.
Solution:
WPML does not directly control whether pages are indexed or not. Instead, it works alongside SEO plugins like Yoast SEO or Rank Math. To automatically set translated pages or posts to noindex, you will need to use these SEO plugins. We recommend using the WPML SEO add-on to enhance compatibility between WPML and SEO plugins. You can read more about WPML SEO here: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-seo/
Additionally, if you have Yoast SEO or Rank Math SEO installed, you can translate meta tags and fields. For guidance on translating meta information with Yoast using WPML, visit: https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/using-wordpress-seo-with-wpml/

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Hey there,

WPML doesn’t control whether pages are indexed or not. Instead, it works with SEO plugins like Yoast SEO or Rank Math to tell them that your site has multiple languages.

If you want to automatically set translated pages or posts to noindex, you’ll need to use those SEO plugins. WPML offers an add-on called WPML SEO that helps with compatibility between WPML and those SEO plugins.

You can read more about it here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-seo/

Take a look at the SEO plugin settings – they usually allow you to control what gets indexed or not. Let me know if you have any questions.

In the link you sent above there is a sentence: "WPML SEO is an addon that lets you translate SEO meta fields by making your multilingual website compatible with Yoast SEO and RankMath."

Does this mean that in version we have currently assigned and pay for, there is no possiblity to translate : meta tags = "SEO meta fields" ?

Hello,

With your current plan, you have access to WPML SEO, which allows you to translate meta tags and fields, as long as you also have Yoast SEO or Rank Math SEO installed. So the answer is yes.

This page explains how to translate meta information created with Yoast, using WPML:

Let me know if this answers your question.
