Problem:
If you're experiencing issues where links in the Spanish version of your primary navigation bar aren't linking to the correct Category pages, and the URLs have incorrect character encoding (e.g., “á” substituted for an “a” with an accent mark), leading to non-existent pages.
Solution:
We recommend following these steps to resolve the issue:
1. IMPORTANT: Create a backup of your website. Alternatively, test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
2. Navigate to the WordPress Dashboard > WPML > WP Menu Sync.
3. Click the sync button.
4. Select all the checkboxes.
5. Click the start button.

Background of the issue:
We are working on translating the English version of our website into Spanish using WPML. An issue has arisen where links in the Spanish version of our primary navigation bar aren’t linking to the Category pages as intended.

Symptoms:
The links in the Spanish primary navigation bar are not linking to the correct category pages. The URLs in the navigation bar have substituted the HTML code, “á” for an “a” with an accent mark, leading to non-existent pages.

Questions:
How can we update our navigation bar to point to the correct page?

Would you please do as follows?

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Go to WordPress Dashboard > WPML > WP Menu Sync
- Click the sync button.
- Select all the checkboxes
- Click the start button
