[Resolved] The website has credits but the automatic translation doesnt know
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client was unable to use their assigned translation credits for automatic translation in WPML, and they also faced issues translating content on Elementor pages. Solution: 1. We identified that the translation credits were stuck due to a change in the automatic translation account ID after reinstalling WPML. To resolve this, the client needed to: - Move the credits back to their WPML.org account by clicking the "add/remove credits" button on https://wpml.org/account. - Remove the current site key and generate a new one at https://wpml.org/account/sites/, then unregister and re-register WPML with the new key on their website. - Re-add the credits to the site following the steps provided at https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/how-to-assign-automatic-translation-credits-to-your-sites/. 2. For translating Elementor pages, the client was advised to download and install a specific add-on for WPML to handle custom Elementor blocks. They should follow the steps outlined at https://wpml.org/documentation/support/multilingual-tools/registering-custom-elementor-widgets-for-translation/. If these solutions do not resolve the issues or if they seem outdated, we recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Background of the issue:
I want to translate some pages from English (main language of the site) to Italian using WPML. I've assigned over 23,000 credits to ecoprogetti.com.
Symptoms:
The automatic translation only gives me 2 options: buy credits or pay as you go, despite having credits.
Questions:
Why is the automatic translation not recognizing the assigned credits?
How can I use the assigned credits for automatic translation on ecoprogetti.com?
I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this and I'm here to help you resolve this.
Those credits probably got stuck.
So, please let me explain why I think this situation with the credits might be happening.
When you initially install and set up WPML, an automatic translation account id is created automatically in the process.
If you uninstall/reset WPML or reinstall/set WordPress from scratch, a new automatic translation account ID will be generated, and the credits will remain in the old account.
On this page (https://wpml.org/account), can you click the "add/remove credits” button and move the credits back to your WPML.org account?
Then, please go here (https://wpml.org/account/sites/) > remove the current site key > generate a new one > then go to your website's backend > Plugins > Add new > Commercial > UNregister WPML from the old key > RE-register WPML with the new key.
There seems to be a problem in this step (On this page (https://wpml.org/account), can you click the "add/remove credits” button and move the credits back to your WPML.org account?)
I would like to kindly request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site. The necessary fields can be found below the comment area. When you log in to leave your next reply, please be assured that the information you enter is private and will only be visible to you and me.
Our Debugging Procedures
I will thoroughly review various settings in the backend to determine if the issue can be resolved. While I will not make changes that affect the live site, it is still advisable to back up the site before granting us access. Should further debugging be necessary, I will create a duplicate and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid any impact on the live site.
- Prior to granting us access, please ensure that the site files and database are backed up.
If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields, please refrain from posting your website details as they will be made public. Kindly request me to enable the private box if you do not see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. You can find the private box by following this link: hidden link
I moved the credits (23842) to your current automatic translation account that's connected with the current site.
Please let me know if you can now use the credits on the site. They should also show up inside WPML > Translation Management > Tools > at the top area.
Hi thank you. I have the credits now. I've been working with the plugins all day yesterday but cannot translate the content in elementor pages. This is really frustrating because I translated automatically a whole Elementor website with this plugin just a couple months ago...
Can you give me a step by step guide on how to automatically translate Elementor pages, Url and keyphrase, metadescription?
Thank you for the update, and I am sorry for the delay. The past few days have been hectic, and fewer people are working on the weekends. But things should move faster from now on.
I am happy to hear that the initially reported issue related to the credits is now resolved.
Elementor is fully compatible with WPML, but sometimes, there are custom Elementor blocks that come with specific themes or from 3rd party plugins, and WPML might not be able to see those by default, so there might be some extra steps that need to be taken.
These might help you help WPML find those custom blocks and properly register them so that WPML can see the content inside them.
If you still encounter issues with the translation process, please do not hesitate to open a new ticket for this specific issue so that we can properly focus on it. We are more than happy to help you resolve this.
Continuing with one issue per ticket helps supporters focus on one problem at once and enables other users to find solutions to their questions faster.
Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation.
