[Assigned] Markup Text is not allowing me to save translation
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Our wait time is higher than usual, please make sure you are meeting the minimum requirement - https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements before you report issues, and if you can take a look at current Known Issues - https://wpml.org/known-issues/. Thank you.
Background of the issue:
I am trying to save a translation on my website hidden link, but it's not letting me save it because the original content on the website has used some formatting markups. A lot of work is pending due to this error.
Symptoms:
Markup Text is not allowing me to save translation.
Questions:
I need PRACTICAL SUPPORT on this matter. I am not able to insert any hyperlinks, any other formatting to the text that WPML translator is highlighting. How to get rid of this problem.
We are using Pay as you Go subscription for WPML. I translated the taxonomy fields and set Translate Everything Automatically.
Initially, the process began very quick and it started putting translations in the queue and Preparing more content for translation. But then, its seems to be hanged at it. Nothing seem to be moving.
Yesterday, I left the files at 1,382 with 194,934 credits and €99.97 spent(card to be charged on May 01, 2025), still the files are the same, no further credit used. The link for AZ translation is also not working hidden link We are so shocked at this, why files are not being translated.
We have new launch in Azerbaijan on 25th April and need to finish the translation of our website by 20th of April. We need urgent assistance to fix translation of all our files within today, please.
- Go to your site’s Pages or Posts section.
- Select a page or post with substantial content that has not yet been translated.
- Click the "+" icon to begin translation.
- In the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE), you will see a “Not enough credits” message with a “Get more credits” link.
- Click that link to access payment options and confirm your credits to continue translating immediately.
This triggers the system to apply the pending payment and release credits for continued use before the billing date.
As stated in WPML’s terms:
If you exceed €100 in a month, we’ll ask you to pay for those first €100 euro (+ VAT) before using more credits. Please note that you would need to translate a lot of words to reach this limit. We will then subtract those €100 euro from your invoice at the end of that month.
Hi, I am using pay as you go subscription, our credit card is linked with our account, which means our credits should never end.
Anyhow, as per the screenshot attached, its saying our card will be charged on 1st of may, but this will be too late for us. Please charge the amount whatever required, and complete the translation. We are stuck here.
20th is our new office launch in Azerbaijan. Please do the needful enabling to make this process swift. Thank you

I understand, but this safety limit is imposed by the system automatically and needs to be paid by the client through WPML interface.
Did you try this?
- Go to your site’s Pages or Posts section.
- Select a page or post with substantial content that has not yet been translated.
- Click the "+" icon to begin translation.
- In the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE), you will see a “Not enough credits” message with a “Get more credits” link.
- Click that link to access payment options and confirm your credits to continue translating immediately.
This will resolve the safety limit and will resume the automatic translation. I tried to login using "wpml-admin" username but it tells me that either the password or the username is not correct.

I’ve followed the process as outlined previously, and your account should have been charged €100 for exceeding the safety limit.
I have now restarted the entire system, and new translations are successfully being processed. Please note that the website was using a significant amount of memory (nearly 2GB), which caused severe slowdowns in the backend. To improve performance, I’ve temporarily disabled a few non-essential plugins (such as Yoast Duplicate Post and Query Monitor).
According to our system, translations are now proceeding normally. There were over 7,000 jobs in the queue, so it may take a bit of time for everything to complete. I’ve also disabled the Russian language to prevent it from being processed in the current batch.
That said, translations are now moving along quite quickly. Here are a couple of pages that have already been automatically translated since the reset:
hidden link hidden link
etc
I also sent over a screenshot from our system to confirm the ongoing activity.

I am not able to do this from our system, but the next safety limit is for 4000 euros. Not sure how much content is there, but may not happen in your case.
If it does, you can repeat the same process to get passed through it:
