This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
Hello, I have installed WPLM and I'm testing it to translate an article. I noticed that the WP Recipe Maker card is not being translated. In the editor, I can see that it is translated, but when I preview it, it is not. If I choose to translate everything automatically, can I select only the most famous articles? Do you offer a trial so I can see how it will look on my blog? I had used GTranslate before, and my blog was translated into English in every detail. Now I'm not sure what to do. Can you help me? Thank you.

Hello there,

Welcome to the WPML support forum!

About the issue with the WP Recipe Maker, that is expected, I'm afraid. For now the recipes created with this plugin can be translated only manually, and not using the Advanced Translation Editor and/or the automatic translation. Please check the following links:

- https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/
- hidden link

About the trial period, we have a policy where we refund 100% of your WPML license for up to 30 days after your purchase date, if you prefer that. Please check it out: https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds.

At last, yes, you can select only the most famous articles and translate them through our WPML -> Translation Management.

I hope that everything is clear now, please let me know if you still have doubts. Thank you.

Kind regards,
Mateus.

Are you sure there is no solution? I don't understand how such a reputable plugin cannot translate WP Recipe Maker. I had tried GTranslate, and it automatically translates it without any issues, even though it is less powerful than WPLM. It's a real hassle for me, even though I like everything else about it.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply.

Actually, checking a bit more internally about the compatibility between WPML and WPRM, it seems that we're in the process to make it fully compatible again.

Right now I'm collecting more info, please stay tuned and as soon as possible we'll provide you with updates.

I'll escalate this to our Compatibility team. We will be working with the developers to find the cause and resolution and will keep you updated here. Please keep in mind that a solution may depend on the plugin author's response. Thanks for your patience while we continue to troubleshoot.

hello ,
I believe it is essential for you to seriously look into this issue because it is discouraging many bloggers who would like to use wplm. For cooking websites, the recipe card is crucial, and doing it manually is not really practical. Unfortunately, I have been working on it for 2 days, searching here and there, but in vain, which has caused a lot of headaches. If gtranslate could do it, I believe that wplm can do it just as well. Many of my friends are relying on me to test and switch to wplm as well, but it's not looking good at the moment. I hope you will find a solution soon.

Hello there,

Thanks for your reply.

As I mentioned previously, we are making some progress here - working together with the WP Recipe Maker authors. We have reached to a possible solution, could you please give it a try in your end? Just follow these steps:

- Go to WPML -> Settings -> Custom XML Configuration tab
- Add this XML: https://pastebin.com/VBMMb9zw, and save it
- Send the recipes to translation again from the WPML -> Translation Management -> Dashboard
- Add the recipes into posts with a shortcode/block (if you haven't done it yet)
- Translate the posts with ATE
- And at last, kindly avoid switching languages (this is, to translate manually, as it was suggested before)

Please try out this solution and let us know how it goes. A few observations:

- the 'String Translation' plugin should be activated
- by the way, some default texts, like 'ingredients', should be translated through the WPML -> String Translation module

Please let me know if you're able to translate the recipes now.

Hello, sorry for the delay. I'm currently working on it and trying to figure out what's best: automatically translating the recipe card or creating a new one for better Google indexing. Creating a new one could be good, but I'd lose the ratings. I'm also looking into keeping the comments. So, I'm working on it right now. I'll let you know if I need your help.

However, the issue I mentioned earlier about translating recipe cards is a common concern, based on what I've read on the forum and heard from my friends. It's not just specific to my website. It's a problem that you need to address to satisfy your customers, and I believe it will only increase WPML's success.
have a good day

Hi there,

Thanks for the comments.

Just for the record, for any other translation plugin, the only method available is the manual translation - the same as with WPML.

However, we are in the process to make it fully compatible with ATE, and therefore the WP Recipe Maker users will be able to also use automatic translation.

We have already created a fix for it, and now this integration is just depending on the authors response. We kindly ask you to give the possible solution above a try, and let us know about your results.

Please keep us posted. Thank you.

Hello, I have installed XML as you advised. New recipe cards in English are created but they only contain the description. They don't contain ingredients or instructions. I'm sending you a screenshot. I'd like to inform you that I've paid to have all my articles automatically translated and then revised. So when you tell me that I have to send the items back to translation after installing XML, how do I make sure I don't lose my translations?
Can you explain what you mean by translating with ATE?
Thank you very much for your help, I hope I'll be able to do it!

When I edit from the French dashboard, the ATE translation (I've just seen what it is) doesn't work. You can see on these screenshots what happens.
sorry for all these questions but it's a real headache that I want to solve so that I can start working. Thanks

Hello, so I'm back with an update. I was finally able to solve the issue by following your advice and with the help of the WP Recipe Maker's owner (who provides extraordinary support). I managed to translate the cards into English, although I have to manually insert them into the translated articles. I'm not sure if there's a way to keep the comments on the translated articles and have them translated as well.

Another question, I would like to know if I can publish my articles without them being visible to visitors and Google bots. I checked the "hidden language" option, but currently all my articles are in draft mode. If I publish them, will they remain hidden indefinitely?
Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for your return.

Glad that you were able to resolve this issue. About the recipe comments, most probably they can be translated in the WPML -> String Translation module.

Now, regarding your other question:

If I publish them, will they remain hidden indefinitely?

Actually no, by just unchecking the 'hidden' option for the language, it'll be automatically displayed again.

Please make sure to check our doc related: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/hiding-languages-on-the-front-end/

Regards,
Mateus.
