Hi there,

We are building a new website. Up until now we have used the classic editor but I want us to move to the new(er) one.

I'm having an issue with the following item. This is the English version

There is a link on "COBUNDU Personal Assistant" going to hidden link

For some reason this link broke on the Dutch version of the item. Which is here:

I tried localising the link by searching "http" in the WPML editor. It is listed and I can fill in the field but the changes will not save (clicked on Complete).

The link does not get updated on the front end and when I open the WPML editor again the fields for the links are empty again.

This also applies to the other links on the page.

I've checked your page here hidden link and I'm able to see the issue you had there.

I would need to take a closer look at your site. So I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed

IMPORTANT: Please, note, a backup is required for security reasons, and to avoid any data loss, you can use the https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/plugin for these backup needs.

Your following answer will be private, which means only you and I have access to it.

✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme and to change configurations on the site if required. This is also a reason the backup is critical.

Sorry, we would need a site snapshot to continue with the troubleshooting. Or can we have your permission to create a snapshot on our own?

We usually recommend the free Plugin “Duplicator” for this purpose.

If you already know how Duplicator works ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/),please skip the following steps and just send me the archive file you downloaded.

If the file is too large (more than 400M), please use the Duplicator file filters to remove the cache, the wp-uploads directory, the media, and the archive files.

Send me the link to the archive file (you probably want to use Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar services, as the snapshot file will be quite big).

Your next reply will be private, which means that only you and I will be able to see it and have access to it.

You can paste the link to the file there.

Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site.

I'm getting some corrupted files when I try to extract the zip file. This doesn't seem to work. Can I have your permission to create a snapshot using (duplicator) on my own on your Website?

Strange, I used that same zip to install the site locally on my computer.

Yes, go ahaid but please be carefull. I am working on it contantly now. It is backuped regularly but I would prefer not to lose recent work 😉

I think you were working on the site earlier and I'm sorry for interrupting your work.

I've checked and it looks like translating the link works fine now. You can try using another link for the Dutch Language and see if it works.

Also, did you translate the strings using the "String Translation" earlier here? hidden link

Yes, I noticed a lot of plugins were turned off. Since I was not aware you were working on the site I turned them back on. (I have an impossible deadline ;-))

I don't recal translating that bit with string translations. It's a paragraph from the page we had that issue on.? It should not be in string translations if I'm not mistaken.

What I did back there should overwrite that string translation. Could you please try translating the link again and see if it works? You need a different link for your secondary language right?

My colleague who usually handles the translations will be starting with localsing the existing content. I ahev notified her about the issue. She well let me know if everything is ok. I will close this thread if it is.
