Thank you I uninstalled all then installed in the order you gave - i also went to WPML to re-download Woocommerce multilingual and Ninja forms multilingual

I did get further but once again a fatal error. the debug log manager gave this message

/wp-content/uploads/debug-log-manager/cotswoldsphotographercom_202308311550_debug.log (0 B)

It's not clickable.

I'm going to leave the ticket open for 7 more days so you can write here in case the problem returns. the problem seemed to have been happening because of lack of memory on the site. it was fixed by reaching our minimum requirements.

Hopefully nothing else will happen and you'll be able to work normally now 🙂

Good morning Alejandro

I'm afraid I've still got problems. I downloaded W3Total and delete all other Cache plugins as you recommended.
I went to WPML and added automatic translation to a few pages.
When I clicked on one of the flags to change language the page content disappeared and I couldn't change back to English.
and I could get back to the dashboard again error 404

I've attached a couple of screenprints and link to the debug log for today

I've disabled all WPML for now.

1) Is that 404 error happens when you click on the flag for the other language, but also when you try to go to the wp-admin dashboard?

I'm saying this because you mention 2 things:

- " the page content disappeared " (does it mean the page is blank? and is that what you try to show me here: hidden link ? )

- "and I could get back to the dashboard again error 404" (in here you seem to mention you COULD get back, so this confuses me a bit)

I suspect that the problem you're facing might be happening because of this: https://wpml.org/errata/htaccess-is-rewritten-with-language-folder/

If you can download the file "functions.php" found under wp-content/themes/(your active theme), then i can apply the code for you so you can just replace it and we can test if this fixes the 404 error.

For the blank page, instead, i'd kindly ask you to please record yourself while you translate a page, try to follow the entire procedure, and show me how one of those pages that are empty look like in the back-end, when you edit the original language.

2) I asked permission to see the screenprints because the link you shared is restricted and doesn't allow me to see it.

Good morning Alejandro

yes once I click a flag the page is blank, my header and logo disappears too.
I could only get back to the dashboard by disabling plugins in cPanel File manager

I've downloaded the functions.php file.

I have a meeting at 11am and need to go to the hospital later but will try to do the recording later this afternoon.

No problem about the recording. i'll wait for it please send the functions.php file, maybe through wetransfer.com, google drive or any other platform you like or prefer.

If possible also send me the error_log you find on the root of your installation and the debug.log found on the wp-content folder, because they might give me a better understanding of other underlying issues that happened then.

Lastly, i don't know if you remember the time when the problem happened? or even just the day (september 3? )that would help me find the issues on the debug and error log faster.

I have modified the functions.php file to include the fix mentioned here: https://wpml.org/errata/htaccess-is-rewritten-with-language-folder/

You can download and replace the one you currently have with this one: hidden link

Once you do this, please go to settings > Permalinks and click the save button on that page.

I'll be waiting for the other things i requested before asking you to enable WPML and try again.

sorry the hospital took a long time.

I've replaced the functions.php and saved permalink
I've shared the error log and debug log with you
The problem was on Sunday 3rd.

I'll now do a loom recording of what i did and what happened.

I'll send by wetransfer once done.

This time I was able to get back to the dashboard without renaming the plugins file in Filemanager.

Ok, so we have 2 problems here

- 404 appearing sometimes
- Some pages appearing as empty on the translations.

I'd like to split the ticket so we can handle each problem separately and i'd like to start with the empty pages because i'm 99% certain of what's the problem here.

I'll close this ticket and split it so we can tackle this issue in a "clean" ticket to avoid polluting this one.
