Hello Carlos,
that setup was indeed blocked by a conflict with another plugin (Themerex Addon) and I now need to figure out how to solve this (any suggestion other than dealing with the developer of the plugin?).
Anyway, I need help with a different thing. Not sure, maybe I need to open a different ticket but I try.

We use LifterLMS plugins for our courses and the Course List (using an Elementor template) is working great here: hidden link

But if you click on a course you end up with a 404 error. I checked in setup and it appears all courses contents are enabled...can you please point me to the right direction?

Something similar happens with the Services in home page. You can see that images is Italian are there while in English the translation is correct but the images are not loaded (showing the 1,2,3 numbers). This might be connected to the plugin above but maybe is something I can address in WPML?

Thank you, with your Admin credentials you should be able to have a look around.

Hi Cristiano,
Thank you for your feedback.

1.- Yes, in this case, the fastest way to isolate the cause of the issue and find a workaround will be by contacting the authors of the plugin.

2.- To fix the issue with the courses and services, I had to go to WPML -> Settings -> Post Type Translation -> Translate the slug of the course post type -> Save the changes

Could you confirm that the issue is solved?

Regards,
Carlos

Hi Carlos, sorry about that.
I did not touch anything more but the Services section has lost its images again. When I first read your message and checked, the 3 images were correctly loading in the English Version but now they stopped again (see attached).
Course, on the contrary, are still ok.
Any idea about what might have happened? Admin credentials, in case, are still active.
Thanks,
Cristiano

P.S.
Regarding Course I noticed that once I have translated the course description (properly displayed) the system is not loading the course details (section/lessons) anymore. You can try that with the only English translated course in course list. If you click on that the course appears empty. If you check in Italian or another course it is still populated.
It seems it is not possible to just use the untranslated items (I guess because they are nested inside the course object itself).
Not sure this can be addressed but I Try!
Thanks!

Hi Cristiano,

1.- To solve the problem of the images of the services on the homepage, I switched the configuration of the element from Pictogram to Image and now they are shown correctly in both languages.

2.- I kindly ask you to describe step by step how to see the problem with the course details.

Regards,
Carlos

Thank you Carlos...

1. Gosh, I did the same but with no luck. But did you make the change to image from pictogram in a "different place" of the translated material? Because in the Italian language that was working (and I indeed changed the settings in the Services Items).

2. Regarding Courses. If you change language to English and click on Video Course from Top menu you correctly sees the list of Courses. And the first one is indeed translated (the description). But when you click on it to open the details you see there's nothing in the right side of the image (it says "This course does not have any sections" but we should see two sections with two lessons). If you switch to Italian you can see them.
I guess this is problematic because sections and lessons are somehow "nested" in the Course article itself (If you go to Corsi in backend and edit the corresponding course you can see the structure).

Hope this helps, thanks!
Cristiano

Hi Cristiano,

1.- I edited the homepage in both languages manually via Elementor and changed the configuration from Pictogram to Image.

2.- Regarding the course. I can see that the issue is related to the translation of the lessons. If you edit the Anteprima lesson you will see that it's connected to the course correctly, however, the translated lesson (Preview) is not.

Carlos

Hi Carlos,
I am not sure I understood. In that course detail I see this (see attached).
Courses/lessons are set to show translation only if it is available but it seems that if only part of the course is indeed translated, nothing is shown anymore.

Cristiano

Hi Carlos,
thank you very much for taking the time to record the video. I understand the point and I am not sure it will be solvable. I will keep investigating, in the meanwhile:
1. If no translation can be done on Section/Lessons shouldn't the untranslated version be displayed. I am sure it should as it is happening with all untranslated courses. So maybe just the fact that I have translated the description of the course (the one appearing in the course list) force the plugin to look for translations even if they are not there?
I am asking this because if I cannot translate courses, I have to decide if just have descriptions translated or remove that as well.
2. Related to this same topic as you see I have several videos (in Italian) and I now have the problem to choose a way to offer multi language videos (the real nightmare).
3. Probably it will not be possible to address it differently so if I want to have my translated video to point to a different video do you believe I can edit just the string of that specific link? Say for example the introductory video in homepage (not linked to courses)
4. Lastly (and I promise to open different tickets from now on for different questions!) with the actual WPML configuration I chose (/language) users with their browser set to English are going to see the website switch to the correct language or this implies a different setup?

Thank you so much for all the help!
Cristiano

Hi Cristiano,

I will try to answer all the questions in this message, but I might need to ask you to open a new ticket because the original issue is already solved and these questions are about new non-related issues:
1.- To display untranslated content you must follow the steps described in this link: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/
2.- This is not a question so I kindly ask you to open a new ticket/chat and describe the problem and how can we help.
3.- Yes, I think this might be possible
4.- Here you will find the steps to setup the browser redirection: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/automatic-redirect-based-on-browser-language/ however you should read the cons of using this configuration.

Regards,
Carlos
