This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

I can not save the languages on the WPML > Languages menu.

Solution:

This must be a possible theme or plugin conflict. Here is how to check:

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Switch to the default theme such as "TwentyTwenty" by going to "WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > themes".
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except WPML and its add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.

DevTools failed to load source map:

Could not load content for /wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/res/js/language-switchers-settings.min.js.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE

This results in being unable to save settings on WPML > Languages

Trying to disable footer languages switcher, but simply doesn't work. Changing other settings, for example customising language switchers also doesn't open the overlay and instead links to wp-admin/admin.php?page=sitepress-multilingual-cms%2Fmenu%2Flanguages.php# (added pound character)

Hi there,

Thank you for the information and the video.

The warning that you shared should not be the cause as it is just a reference to a Javascript Map file and not the real JS file:

Hello Christopher,
Thanks for your reply and confirming that it must be theme/plugin related.
I will have to debug the issue further on a staging environment.
Thanks,
Pieter
