Hi Alejandro,

Thanks again for your detailed response.

Ben and I reviewed the video. Below I summarised the steps we followed regarding the hyperlink not working.

1. I created these two articles in WordPress and ran them through automatic translation from the dashboard
hidden link
hidden link

2. I added a hyperlink to the first article using the WordPress Editor to edit the English article to link it to the second article. I ran it through automatic translation again from the dashboard since it was updated. I tested it and found the link did not work.

3. I reviewed the issue with Ben. He thought the article needed to be translated again, so he ran it through automatic translation. He also confirmed the link did not work.

4. Ben went into the ATE Editor in "view mode" only to see if he could find what was causing the issue. He saw the link was present. However, he did NOT make any changes through the ATE Editor, nor did he commit to any change in ATE.

So our conclusion is that adding a hyperlink to a translated article is not recognised automatically when the updated article is sent through automatic translation.

Please confirm if we provided you with adequate information about this issue.

Thanks again for your assistance.
Jane

The problem here is exactly the same and this time i show you in this video how to actually fix it so it doesn't happen again: hidden link

the problem here is that you are not looking at the STATUS of each segment. if the segment is not fully green and formatted correctly in the translation, then the content will be shown exactly as it is in the translation editor.

If the segment would've been in English instead of in french and without the HTML markers, then it would've shown the content in english in the front-end as well and in the other pages created afterwards with the same exact segment on it.

In the video i explain to you from the beginning how the problem was originated (a user tried to manually edit a page that contained this segment. made a change or a new translation but didn't assign the markers and as such the segment was never truly completed so it appeared as "in progress"), how you can fix it and how you can avoid it in the future (make sure you do not have segments set as "in progress").

Another important thing to know here is that our automatic translation won't overwrite segments that are left as "drafts" and it will just take them as "completed" when you automatically translate them from WPML > Translation management to avoid "retrieval rerrors" (if you open ate and try to click the "complete" button, you'll see it will say you need to finish translating the content).

----------------------------------------------------------

Can you tell me now if this segment was created for the first time on the page you sent me or was a segment that existed in other pages as well?

Thank you for your detailed response. I would like to review it again with Ben.

The segment you are referencing was created for the first time in WordPress. The article had already been run through automatic translation. As a next step, I used the "Insert Link" option, as shown in the image below, to link to a second article. I copied the URL for the second article to link the two articles.
hidden link.

Then I saved the article again and ran it through automatic translation. That's when I found the link did not work in the translated article. I never went into the ATE to make any changes or view the content. This was done later by Ben when he only viewed the translation in ATE.

I hope this answers your question.

Before you research the issue further, please let me review the video with Ben tomorrow (Friday). I will follow up with any additional information or questions if needed.

Thank you again for your time in working with us to understand this issue. I appreciate you keeping the ticket open in the meantime.

There's one thing i want to leave clear to make sure we're on the same page.

Anything that you create on WordPress is "not" a segment, or at least not the segment i'm talking about.

When i mention a segment, i mention that set of content you see in the translation editor. you see they are separated into different "chunks" in the translation editor? well, those "chunks" are the segments.

You can take a look at this screenshot i made to try to make things clearer: hidden link

So, yes the original content was made in WordPress, but at one point it seems the translation editor was opened, maybe to review a translation and while reviewing them, that specific section shown on the video, the one in "yellow" was left unfinished. it was translated but the markers were never set and as a result, since you then used the automatic translation and probably didn't really accessed the translation editor anymore, you got this "yellow" segment inherited in all the other places where the same content and links existed.

This link issue probably exists in other pages, and there will probably be the "first" page that had this segment content (the paragraph with the link) that is the one that was reviewed and left unfinished.

I suspect it was left unfinished because the person reviewing it didn' know they had to actually select where to add the markers (it's a common mistake among some users). i'm talking about this: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/#html-markers

this part is the key to the problem and if you try to do what i mention in the video, you'll notice the problem won't be there anymore, at least not with the specific segment i fixed.

Let me know how it goes and don't hesitate to ask if you feel something i said is not clear or you have further doubts or questions.

Thank you again for your detailed explanation. We understand now how to resolve issues like this in the future.

I hope it works for you to move to another issue that we reported with this ticket.

A segment of the content in an article is not translated. In the screenshot below, 1) It shows the content not translated when you view the article. 2) However, it shows the content is translated in the Translation Editor.
hidden link

Here is the link for the article hidden link

The steps I followed were: 1) used Automatic Translation to translate the article, 2) confirmed the translation was complete on the dashboard, 3) viewed the article where I noticed the content was not translated, and 4) viewed the content in the Translation Editor for "debugging purposes" only.

Please let me know if you require any additional information.

Thanks again for your assistance.

I'm closing this ticket since one of the problems was already solved.

I have split the other questions into 2 tickets where i'll be treating them separately.
